Technical Writer-IPB

Candidate will perform technical writing and validation of organizational level technical documentation. Evaluates, applies and/or adapts engineering modifications, designs or new or modified parts and components for incorporation into technical documentation. Writes using clear and concise language to prepare technical data, procedures, reports, and illustrations for retrofit documentation. Acquires or verifies knowledge of subject by interviewing workers engaged in developing new products and services or in making improvements, observing performance of experiments and methods of production, referring to blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings and notes, trade and engineering journals, rewrites of articles, bulletins, manuals, or similar publications.

Candidate would be responsible for writing and validating organizational level technical documentation in support of C-130 aircraft Illustrated Parts Breakdown. Candidate must be able to write in clear concise language. Candidate must have technical publications background in development of retrofit documentation such as Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) and Service Bulletins (SBs). Candidate must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and customer documentation. Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems and associated maintenance procedures is a plus. Computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required. Job may require some travel to customer sites.

Requirements Skills:

At least five to ten years of experience in Technical Publications performing Quality Checks and/or Quality Assurance Audits; highly organized; process and detail oriented; manuscript editing experience; experience in editing technical and/or aircraft maintenance/operational information; strong communication skills and tactful; computer literate; good attention to detail a must.

Desired Skills:
Familiar with military technical manuals and specifications (Illustrated Parts Breakdown, Job Guides, Flight Manuals, Checklists, Fault Isolation, General System) preferably C-130 and/or C-5, and with the ability to edit technical writing. Technical knowledge of C-5 and/or C-130 systems is a plus. Understanding and knowledge of the basic book structure and publishing is also a plus.

Education: Bachelor degree from an accredited college in a related discipline or 20 years of work experience in related field.
