Production Manager (Swing Shift)

The Production Manager will be responsible for the management and direction of production personnel in support of the conversion of cannabis flower into Island’s end products. Ideal candidates will have a four-year degree with at least four (4) years of production management experience in a manufacturing and environment. This is a direct hire role to join a creative and innovative team located in Oakland!

We are looking for candidates interested in and available to cover our day shift (2:30p-10p).


  • Supervise production associates and hold direct reports accountable for their performance; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures

  • Ensure that all production associates are properly trained to operate the equipment in a safe, efficient manner based on current SOPs

  • Oversee the production planning, staffing and day to day manufacturing operations in a cost-effective manner, help to develop, track and record operational KPI’s. Monitor and manage overtime

  • Identify barriers to meeting production goals and help develop and implement improvement plans

  • Facilitate team meeting and encourage an open door policy to resolve issues

  • Help control costs of material, labor, and equipment in accordance to budget

  • Improve product quality and consistency, minimize low-grade production, unscheduled downtime, yield loss, manufacturing cost and waste in all production processes

  • Coordinate daily activities of production, quality and cleanliness of plant

  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state and local laws/regulations

  • Handle some administrative duties

Physical Requirements

  • Remain standing/walking for extended amounts of time daily

  • Regularly lift 25 lbs

  • Safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs when necessary

  • Ability to work in an adverse environment with varying temperatures and conditions seasonally


  • High School Diploma/equivalent + relevant work experience or BA/BS

  • 4+ years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced production environment

  • Passion for high quality, handcrafted goods with interest in the cannabis industry

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, including self motivation

  • Familiarity with OSHA and safety regulations

  • Previous budget and profit & loss responsibility preferred

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and a high level of integrity

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends
