We currently have an exciting Mold Setup Supervisor opportunity. This role is based in our Pineville 1 Plant, reporting to the Plant Manager.

Job Summary

The Setup Supervisor is responsible for various mold setup processes including the startup process of injection molding machines. Supervisory responsibilities include Setup Technicians and the Setup Specialist to ensure startup is as per product specification and procedure. The Setup Supervisor will minimize setup time while efficiently ensuring safety to meet or exceed the daily planned event schedule and departmental objectives.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Assign, schedule, and establish daily priorities.
  • Check mold cycle, repairs, processing issues, and communicate actions with other departments as needed.
  • Communicate, promote, and enforce Corporate Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies and ensure adherence by staff. Monitor and evaluate safety performance regularly.
  • Instruct, mentor, and support setup technicians.
  • Ensure Setup Technicians follow all provisions of operating instructions.
  • Monitor quality of output and take appropriate action, including shutdown of process, to prevent or limit faulty start-ups. Conduct and assist others in conducting investigations to resolve causes of quality defects & downtime incidence.
  • Prepare daily operating reports.
  • Participate in daily meetings with Process Manage, Mold Manager, and Setup Technicians to communicate current and future goals.
  • Ensure that finished product is manufactured in compliance with the Corporate Quality Control Manual and ISO procedures.
  • Minimize raw material inventory and variance, optimizing the use of regrind material, minimizing scrap rates, and minimizing unrecoverable scrap.
  • Assist in the start-up and troubleshooting of process-related problems with production equipment, tooling, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Participate in the recruitment process of new employees.
  • Conduct trials for new production tools or equipment. Record results and discuss with Production Manager about suitability for implementation.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Requirements

  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Strong technical understanding of production planning techniques, a basic understanding of quality management standards, lean manufacturing, and safety requirements/laws (ISO 9001, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.)
  • 2-3 years of experience in Injection Molding is preferred
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Expert knowledge of tooling, plastics processing, and reading mold drawings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PVC manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and conduct Kaizen events
  • Completion of High School or practical experience in a related industry required
  • Plastic processing certification or equivalent training required
