Job Description: Collaborates with the office administrative team and functions as the EMR point-person for all aspects of the life cycle of clinical information systems implementation. Supports the effective EMR transformation within the assigned clinical practices in accordance with strategic business objectives. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Serves as a liaison between clinicians and IT professionals to facilitate a common understanding of the clinical standards and process improvement activities across multidisciplinary teams throughout the lifecycle of clinical systems implementations and maintenance activities. 2. Ensures that organizational needs are adequately addressed, business objectives are represented and that decisions regarding system development/process changes are viable for the IHA culture/environment. 3. Conducts general or specialized educational sessions for employees, providers and application super-users related to new and existing systems/processes, including EMR implementations. 4. Delivers course content in a way that meets course objectives and adult learning principals; anticipates areas of difficulty and/or questions and quickly adapt training to meet the needs of students. Provides feedback to students to ensure learning objectives are met and knowledge transfer has occurred. 5. Develops training materials, classroom handouts, instructional materials, job aids, manuals, videos or others as necessary; ensures training materials are adaptable to various learning environments (classroom, remote training, etc.). 6. Periodically and systematically updates training materials to ensure that they reflect changes with respect to feedback provided through the evaluation process, input received at meetings or from other sources recommending change or improvements to support an effective training program. 7. Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills into employees work behaviors; recommends and/or implements innovative solutions, modification, and enhancements to technology training programs. 8. Works in partnership with leadership, super-users, captains, and staff to translate clinical requirements into specifications for the clinical information system. 9. Evaluates the impact that information systems have on user workflow; identifies workflow and process changes that will enhance the use of clinical information systems; ensures existing and future information systems effectively facilitate clinical practice, the delivery of safe patient care and are consistent with clinical practice standards. 10. Works collaboratively with the team(s) dedicated to information systems design, build, testing and training activities, and the phased implementation of the new system. 11. Acts as a supporter and change agent for SMD's and Clinicians to ensure maximum benefit of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and compliance with federal and state regulations. 12. Conveys information regarding the system and its impact on existing standards, processes and forms in such a way as to gain consensus for new ways of doing business and support to effectively implement those decisions. 13. Maintains complete knowledge of office services and in the use of all relevant office equipment, computer, and manual systems. 6. Maintains strict patient and employee confidentiality in compliance with IHA and HIPAA guidelines 7. Serves as a role model, by demonstrating exceptional ability and willingness to take on new and additional responsibilities. Embraces new ideas and respect cultural differences. 8. Uses resources efficiently. 9. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of Healthcare Informatics and related hardware and software technology, clinical practices, regulatory standards and organizational direction. 10. Responsible for ongoing professional development – maintains appropriate licensure/certification and continuing education credentials, participates in available learning opportunities. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in health care or information technology. CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) and NCP (NextGen Professional) are preferred. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years' relevant work experience utilizing EMR in a medical practice environment, with strong preference for IHA office experience. POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ABILITIES & SKILLS): 1. Working knowledge of physician office workflow and systems used within the offices. 2. Proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including but not limited to, electronic medical records, email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required while performing the essential functions of the job. 3. Ability to communicate effectively (i.e., speaking, listening, writing) in order to conduct training, recommend findings to administration, and/or share information among staff members. 4. Competent level of understanding and application of adult learning principles and training methodologies. 5. Demonstrated initiative and excellent follow through to ensure resolution of open items. 6. Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills. 7. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; courteous and friendly demeanor. 8. Ability to work effectively with various levels of organizational members and diverse populations including IHA staff, providers, vendors and the general public. 9. Good organizational and time management skills to effectively juggle multiple priorities, time constraints and deadlines. 10. Thorough knowledge of IHA policies and procedures. 11. Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner. 12. Successful completion of IHA competency-based program within introductory and training period. MINIMUM PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS: 1. Physical activity that often requires keyboarding and phone work. 2. Physical activity that often requires time working on a computer and sitting. 3. Physical activity that often requires walking, bending, stooping, reaching and/or twisting. 4. Physical activity that sometimes requires lifting, pushing and/or pulling under 30 lbs. 5. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust and focus. 6. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. 7. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time in English. 8. Ability to operate a vehicle or gain transportation to multiple locations. MINIMUM ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS: This job operates in both an office environment and in a medical facility and requires regular walking to various locations around the hospital/clinic. It involves frequent interruptions, competing priorities and significant interaction with people which can be stressful at times.
