The IAM National Pension Fund is conducting a search for Fund Representatives to join the Education and Employer Services team. The Fund Representatives will work closely with existing and potential contributing employers, union representatives, Plan participants, and internal staff to educate various audiences on the benefits of the IAM National Pension Fund and 401(k) Plan in order to retain and bring in new bargaining parties to the IAM National Benefit Fund Office.

The IAM National Pension Fund is seeking highly-motivated, proactive candidates with strong sales, training, or education backgrounds. This opportunity will provide Fund Representatives with the opportunity to hone their strong presentation skills, build an expansive countrywide network, and craft and deliver timely messaging to a wide variety of audiences. The ability to travel up to 75%, including air, train, and personal auto, is a prerequisite for employment.

Essential Duties

Analysis of pension plan documents to prepare plan comparisons and present on the differences between single employer defined benefit plans, multiemployer defined benefit plans, defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, and the IAM National Pension Plan

Prepare expert-level presentations that illustrate in-depth understanding of audience requirements on short notice using various software tools such as Prezi and PowerPoint

Effectively present information to a wide variety of audiences including Benefits Specialists, Human Resource employees, attorneys, actuaries, and corporate personnel

Lead discussions and present materials at Union Negotiating Committee Meetings and discuss details of the National Pension Plan. Compare and contrast employer’s current plan(s) to the National Pension Plan and offer strategy on various methods of implementing the Plan

Facilitate meetings for current participants and employees of contributing employers about the benefits that they are promised and the ways that the IAM National Pension Fund and 401(k) plan can help secure their retirement

Present information on the Plan(s) at various conferences and be able to answer time-critical queries that may be requested by the Union

Keep files and database updated with current status of potential new employers. Prior experience with SalesForce or other CRM tools is a plus

Establish and maintain relationships with current participants, contributing employers, and union business representatives

Continually monitor pension industry news, legislation, and the competitive retirement landscape in order to build and maintain competency and knowledge

Develop and drive new opportunities from beginning to end: initial proposal, final presentations, employer and participant onboarding and ongoing account reviews

Track, maintain, enhance, and create new metrics that illustrate critical and creative thinking about the activities of the Fund and the Education Department

Ability to create ad hoc reports for a variety of requests and situations

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Undergraduate degree preferred (marketing, advertising, communications, or related field)

Ability to convey complex concepts in simple terms and provide relevant information to various parties of sizes and seniority levels

Organized, diligent, and high-energy individual, with a demonstrated commitment to, and past track record of, excellent performance

Ability to work well on collaborative teams and to operate independently with minimal supervision and oversight

Exceptional oral and written communication skills

Excellent public speaking skills in front of a variety of audiences, from small groups to large conferences

Must have a current, valid driver’s license

Candidates must be flexible and able to work evenings and weekends in accordance with the Fund’s travel, training, and development schedule. This position requires frequent travel up to 75%.
