Collections Assistant Manager - Payroll Audit Assistant Manager

The IAM National Pension Fund is conducting a search for an Assistant Manager for the Employee Payroll Audit (EPA) and Collections group. The Assistant Manager is responsible for coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders ensure all necessary information and documents relating to employer payroll audits and delinquency collections are provided in a timely manner. In addition, the Assistant Manager will assign and review work of staff on the EPA and Collections team.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the Fund's external auditors to help facilitate the payroll audit process, including ensuring all necessary documents are provided
  • Conduct research required by external auditors and review audit findings
  • Review credit request write-ups and arbitration summaries. Ensure all necessary adjustments are made to the system
  • Coordinate collection cases with the Accounting, Employer Services and Legal Departments
  • Review the day-to-day work of the EPA and Collections staff
  • Actively participate in the new computer implementation including attending meetings and conducting testing of various sprints when required
  • Maintain tracking of all projects to ensure work is being completed in a timely manner
  • Assist in identifying issues before they become problems
  • Manage and provide training and coaching for EPA and Collections Staff
  • Review and approve staff time-off requests and bi-weekly payroll
  • Provide evaluation of processes and procedures, suggest methods to improve business operations and efficiency
  • Provide appropriate and timely constructive feedback and initiate progressive discipline when necessary
  • Provide meaningful metrics to Sr. Management
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business or a combination of college and relevant experience
  • 3+ years' experience relevant to the responsibilities and duties of the position

Competencies

  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff, management, employers and external auditors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to recognize and resolve problems
  • Excellent proofreading, editing, oral and written communications skills
  • Proficient in factual research
  • Familiarity with a wide range of matters concerning the collection of delinquencies for a Taft-Hartley multi-employer benefit fund and/or employer payroll audits is preferred
  • High attention to detail and an ability to work well under pressure
  • Proven teamwork and leadership skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task
