Assistant Manager - General Ledger Accounting

The IAM National Pension Fund is conducting a search for an Assistant Manager for the General Ledger Team in the Accounting Department. The Assistant Manager oversees the accounts payable process, recordation of cash receipts and accounts receivable to the general ledger and produces budget analytics for the National Pension Fund. In addition, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the managing and oversite of the Bargaining Unit Bookkeeping staff.

Responsibilities and Duties: (The listing below is not meant to include all the duties of the position, nor do all listed examples include all tasks which may be required of the position.)

  • Review and approve recurring and non-recurring journal entries
  • Review monthly account reconciliations
  • Oversee the manual and automated accounts payable process for the Benefit Funds Office
  • Oversee the manual and automated accounts payable process for the Benefit Funds Office
  • Oversee all aspects of case receipts processing for the National Pension Plan and 401kPlans
  • Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets
  • Perform audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements
  • Create new processes to improve efficiency
  • Report analysis and findings to management team
  • Provide coaching, training and oversite to bookkeeping staff
  • Review and approve staff’s time and time off requests
  • Hold team accountable and administer progressive discipline when necessary

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or like field or combination of education and experience commensurate
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years Management experience
  • Previous experience doing GL accounting (A/P, P/R, G/L, J/E’s, reconciliations, analysis) in a corporate or non-profit environment
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with current computer accounting programs and reporting tools
