Job Description

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Vehicle Test and Development Engineer at our California Proving Ground (CPG) facility located near California City, CA:

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the performance of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis prototype, pilot, and production vehicles that include:
  • Brake Systems
  • Vehicle Dynamic Controls (ESC, ABS TCS, etc...)
  • Vehicle Durability
  • Thermal Systems (HVAC and Powertrain Cooling)
  • ADAS (advanced driver-assistance systems)
  • Perform subjective and objective vehicle evaluations, identify potential customer complaint issues, investigate problem root causes, and propose countermeasures.
  • Develop and execute test plans, coordinate test vehicles, and interface with affiliates
  • Benchmark competitive vehicles for trends and technology.
  • Analyze customer feedback survey results (IQS, Consumer Report, and internal clinics)
  • Interface regularly with Hyundai and Kia affiliates in North America.
  • Provide technical support to Hyundai and Kia North American manufacturing plants.
  • Create and present clear and concise technical reports.
  • Work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Travel up to 30%, domestically and internationally.

Compensation:

  • $61,400~$78,051


    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study.
    • 1-3 years of related experience
    • Understanding of overall vehicle systems- brakes, ADAS controls, chassis controls, HVAC, and cooling systems
    • Prefer some relevant engineering internships or experience in the automotive industry
    • Some experience with data acquisition and analysis software including Matlab
    • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel & PowerPoint)
    • Good project management and technical writing skills
    • Flexibility in handling multiple projects and changing priorities
    • Ability to work in a culturally diverse team environment
    • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
