Model Line Engineer II

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Model Line Engineer for our Chino, CA location that will:

• Investigate chassis and or powertrain quality issues on Hyundai, Genesis, or Kia vehicles responding to requests from Hyundai Motor Group, sales affiliates, vehicle assembly plants, and sudden increases in warranty claims.
• Conduct field or on-site investigations to collect subjective and objective data during driving to identify concerning conditions.
• Gather driving conditions, and record and analyze data to diagnose the root cause.
• Lead new model quality activities and schedule N.A. pre-launch activities for both HMC and KMC new models.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices and facilitate learning on the job
• Lead development in collaboration with other groups/affiliates of test plans for the various quality tests done for new models including Ride & Handling, NVH, Shift Quality, Hot and Cold weather tests
• Manage schedules and advise outsourced companies to assure all deliverables are met as per contract.
• Assist vendors and triage issues that may arise to maintain the schedule.
• Provide weekly management progress reports.
• Lead the identification of major quality concerns for New vehicle models and provide Engineering analysis and research results for 'lessons learned' on current and future models.
• Benchmark competitive vehicles to research differences and improve Hyundai/Kia vehicle systems.
• Research, procure, and maintain new technology, tools, and methods for data acquisition or analysis.
• Conduct vehicle audits for Hyundai & Kia models during developmental stages and after vehicle launch.
• Create and present technical reports as assigned.
• Perform additional projects as assigned.
• Travel up to 40% of the time domestically and internationally.
