Are you an experienced Engineer with strong communication and analytical skills? If so, Hyperion Materials and Technologies has an engaging career opportunity for you to support the development, testing, and optimization of world-class hard and super-hard materials.
Hyperion M&T is a leading, world-class supplier of hard and super-hard materials and solutions to the manufacturing industry. We have a diverse base of customers in industries like automotive, aerospace, electronics, energy and general engineering that we support with ~1,900 employees in multiple global locations.
Applications Engineer-Machining is an exciting role and is primarily responsible for developing application focused machining tests, to evaluate new and existing metal cutting products, and work directly with internal and external customers to optimize product performance. This role is typically tasked with challenging projects such as finding new ways to machine materials, understanding the role of process parameters on tool wear when using different styles of cutting tools, developing and optimizing new tests to rank cutting tools in a “lean lab” environment, and working directly with the sales team to find solutions for our customers.
You possess a Batchelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, and 0-3 years of experience in metal cutting and machining processes. Strong working knowledge of the mechanics and physics of the machining process is a must. You possess a proven understanding of engineering fundamentals with solid conceptual and analytical skills. Prior experience managing a team of machinists and technicians helpful, but not required.
Where others see many, we see you – personally. We recognize and value your passion and personality as well as your strong analytical skills. You are a high-energy self-starter, who initiates and drives value-added projects to successful completion. You have excellent creative problem - solving abilities, and a demonstrated ability to plan and complete multiple projects on time. You are highly motivated and a quick learner, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, demonstrating expertise through your strong oral and written communication skills. You are creative and innovative, with a strongly collaborative nature.
