To strengthen our team in San Dimas, California we are looking for a committed and reliable candidate for the position of Surface Grinder.
In this role you will be responsible for planning and performing various Surface Grinding operations to grind a variety of mold precision parts under the direction of and reporting to the Manufacturing Manager,
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and operates surface grinding machines
- Positions and secures workpiece on magnetic chuck, in holding fixture, or directly to machine table.
- Selects grinding wheel for each operation according to knowledge of metal properties and abrasives, and mount and balance wheel on spindle.
- Work from engineering drawings, specifications and / or process instructions to rough and finish grind parts to close tolerances. High precision, diversified work, grinding a variety of materials.
- Create and edit simple programs at the control.
- Inspect parts at various stages to insure final outcome in terms of geometry and surface finish and square-ness is achieved.
- Recommends changes to process / methods to improve productivity while maintaining quality.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed and standard safety regulations.
- Perform other and related duties as assigned, directed or within the scope of overall responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Qualified candidates should have 5+ years of experience and be able to perform own set ups, inspections and hold close tolerances (.0002).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and part specifications.
- Ability to setup and operate grinding machines.
- Ability to use standard measuring tools (i.e. micrometers and gauges).
- Experience on CNC surface grinders is a definite a plus
- Ability to create and edit CNC programs is an asset
- Lean experience: Flow / Pull, 5S or Continuous Improvement
- Strong Team Player
- Knowledge of proper Health and Safety measures
- Flexible with rotating shift work
