POSITION BACKGROUND

Human Touch is supporting a government client that is undertaking a strategic initiative to re-engineer its current business processes and technology solutions to streamline and modernize data collection and ingestion operations across the Enterprise. This effort will result in a solution that supports key business area functions, as it relates to modernization of the management, collection and processing of data in a secure manner. This work focuses on high performance application architecture, system architecture, and system engineering. Additional areas of focus include governance, change management, configuration management, solution integration and design, in addition to providing oversight for development and testing. Review of and input to System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) documentation of the projects and supporting components is also a key task component. The program activities utilize the SAFE Agile Framework to capture requirements, features, and develop user stories.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Mid-Level Applications Architect position is an integral part of our delivery team and is responsible for working with our team of subject matter experts, alongside our federal clients, to ensure the design of a robust application architecture that will realize their requirements/needs. The Senior Applications Architect will provide input and guidance to Alternatives of Analyses and weigh in on project team solutions, providing recommendations for solution architecture design and development. This candidate will participate in requirements’ gathering and analysis sessions, providing expert insight towards best software and solutions. The candidate will communicate in group settings, making recommendations to a broader audience on best practices. He/she will be responsible for participating in problem analysis and system design sessions as part of an Agile development team. The candidate will also be responsible for providing guidance towards the integration and implementation of related applications components: including front-end development, server-side development, and database integration. The Senior Applications Architect will be responsible for helping our team provide recommendations for optimal system performance based on the requirements identified.

  • 7+ years' of work experience developing applications, and in designing and developing web pages and web-based products
  • Proficient in Java, Angular, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML and web APIs
  • Experience in D3 and JavaScript or a high competency in using existing tools such as R-shinny, SAS VA, Natural Language Processing, Python, Metlab, Hibernate, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience with Cross browser development/compatibility
  • Experience with JQuery
  • Experience with Application Architecture in the Cloud
  • Experience with the Pega platform
  • Experience with Test Driven Development and Debugging
  • Experience with cloud-based development
  • Experience in Agile, SAFe or iterative development methodologies
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences

 

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Background in application architecture and software design with the ability to support the modernization efforts. The candidate must have a minimum of ten (7+) years’ of experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background well-grounded in software, solutions, and systems architecture frameworks, as well as best practice software design and engineering principles; experience with gap analyses and AoAs; understanding of Cloud Technologies, Data Lakes; and breadth of knowledge across applications and toolsets.

The candidate must be able to develop and present briefings to stakeholders across the enterprise, and lead technical discussions effectively.

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, and Physics or in an appropriate discipline.

 

Additional Job Information

There is limited telecommuting and onsite work required.

Demanding client, visible project, part of PMO.

Must have excellent communication skills, and be able to lead architecture work stream.

Requires technical chops and leadership skills.

Knowledge of industry security best practices desirable.
