Cancer Services Registry Program Manager: FT, 8:30am- 5pm, M-F

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in health-related field is preferred.
  • 5-10 years relevant experience in a hospital, state, or free standing cancer registry or equivalent oncology related data collection activity.
  • Certification and/or Licensure - Certified as a Tumor Registrar (CTR)

The Cancer Services Registry Program Manager :
  • Plans, develops, coordinates, directs and evaluates the daily ongoing activities of the Cancer Registries at Washington Adventist Hospital and Howard University Hospital to provide operational efficiency and consistency between both facilities.
  • The Cancer Registry Manager ensures compliance with regulatory agencies – DC Department of Health (DOH); and compliance with regulatory data standards and accreditation as outlined by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer (ACoS, CoC) and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance of CTRs related to the operations of the Adventist Health Care Cancer Registries including establishment and oversight of departmental policies and standards assuring consistency among all sites.
  • Oversee daily operations in regards to staff, management, case finding, budget, abstracting, follow-ups, timely submission of data to regulatory agencies and quality control for Adventist Health Care Cancer Registries.
  • Assure data is collected in accordance with the standardized coded structure specified by MCR, CoC, and NAPBC
  • Conduct regular audits and monitor data to ensure registry standards are continually maintained according to Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation requirements.
  • Develop and implement ongoing quality and operational process improvements to assure accuracy of data and operational efficiency of the Cancer Registries to support the Oncology Service Line of Adventist Health Care.
  • Oversee production of timely, accurate reports and analysis of registry data routinely for administration and medical staff to assess incidence and quality of cancer care for both facilities.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge and CTR certification by attending educational workshops—in person or web-based, will complete required CEUs to maintain certification, will attend annual NCRA conference; reviewing professional publications, attending required Adventist Health Care leadership activities and maintaining membership in good standing of NCRA.
  • Manage the selection, motivation and retention of staff; maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment; develop personal growth opportunities.
  • Evaluate performance of registry staff to assure quality, productivity, competence and continuing education
  • Comply with all other regulatory, departmental and organization policies.

  • Attends annual and periodic mandatory Compliance Program training including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy training.
  • Participates in activities that promote adherence to federal healthcare program requirements.
  • Actively participates in Health Sciences Compliance Program activities
  • Adheres to the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, and staff.
