Program Manager/Alliance Manager

Watertown, MA

Programmable gene insertion company. Using CRISPR, our technologies allow us to insert any genetic sequence of any size at any location into any genome. We are writing the final chapter in genomic medicines, delivering cures to patients through cell and genome engineering.

We are seeking a program/alliance manager (senior manager, AD or Director level) who will be a key member of company’s program and alliance management growing function. The ideal candidate will have a scientific background and experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, early-stage biotech setting (gene editing experience a plus). This candidate will partner internally with company’s senior R&D team leads, and external collaborators (e.g., strategic alliance partners, external vendors), to advance our programmable gene insertion technology platform to develop next-generation medicines to cure genetic diseases.  This candidate will report to the Senior Director of Program and Alliance Management or the SVP of Business Development (contingent on the candidate level) and will work closely with company’s Research, BD, Legal, and Finance departments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with cross-functional research team (genomics, bioinformatics, ex vivo targets, in vivo targets, manufacturing) to help proactively define and map out program strategy, goals, decision points, timelines, areas of risk and associated mitigations
  • Apply PM/AM infrastructure and automation expertise to support growing R&D organization needs (e.g., SharePoint websites, Smartsheet request forms, ELN review tracking)
  • Facilitate collaborative decision-making discussions with research team leads and/or external partners and ensure alignment and clear next steps across functions is communicated
  • Serve as spokesperson for program; regularly communicate program progress and issues to key stakeholders, senior management, and external committees, as appropriate
  • Responsible for meeting agenda preparation and follow up, including meeting minutes, organization of documents, and tracking decisions/action items
  • Create and maintain program project timelines using tools such as Smartsheet, ThinkCell, dashboards, etc.
  • Ability to bring the “big picture” to the table during internal discussions to help steer technical conversations back to key objectives of the meeting, ensuring outcomes are aligned with company goals
  • Partnering with team leads and finance to help manage business relationships with strategic partners and external R&D vendors via knowledge of contractual key terms/scope of work



  • Highly motivated, goal and results-oriented Program Manager with 5+ years of experience in a biotechnology/pharma setting with at least 3+ years' experience in program/alliance management function managing cross-functional teams and/or strategic alliances/external vendor relationships
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline; Masters, PhD, or MBA a strong plus
  • Experience with gene or cell therapy research/development programs is a plus
  • Desire and demonstrated ability to perform at a strategic level as well as in a hands-on capacity
  • Ability to drive decision-making and create a strong collaborative dynamic across teams
  • High emotional intelligence with an ability to work with team members at all levels, inspiring people to action through your influence
