POSITION SUMMARY:

The Inventory Data Entry Clerk is responsible for day-to-day data entry functions as they relate to processing product re-classes and combinations, inventory transfers, donation orders, and general office administration. This position provides exceptional customer service and supports Volunteer Services, Warehouse, and Inventory, as well as other Operations programs and departments as needed. The Inventory Data Entry Clerk will maintain professional business relations with internal members and external contacts and keep the Inventory Control Manager well-informed of all area activities.

  1. Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations.
  2. Process product re-classes and combinations.
  3. Process PRO paperwork and create new pallet tags.
  4. Process paperwork before the end of the month.
  5. Create item numbers with detailed descriptions, units of measure, weight, etc.
  6. Create donation orders for receiving incoming donations.
  7. Keying in manual count sheets in a timely fashion.
  8. Keeping count sheets organized.
  9. Process and file documents in a timely manner.
  10. Create and manage an electronic filing system for all documents pertaining to inventory control.
  11. Daily data entry in Microsoft Word Processing, CERES, Netsuite, Waerlinx, Excel spreadsheets.
  12. Maintaining master log of areas counted items, first, second and third counts, and count teams assigned counts.
  13. Maintain a clean and friendly work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma, GED or commensurate industry experience
  • 1- 2 years' previous experience in office work and or 1- 2 years' experience with receiving or other inventory-related work
  • Must have experience with MS Office Suite, Word Processing, and, MS Excel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required daily to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a standing or stationary position for a significant amount of the workday; and often access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate must regularly move about the office and around the facility, use hands, wrists, and fingers to grip, type, and write. The associate will need to have the average ability to hear horns, warnings, and alerts associated with a warehouse. The associate must occasionally travel to other sites for business.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in an enclosed office environment, the associate is occasionally exposed to freezers, enclosed and/or tight spaces, wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, strong food-related smells, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the associate will be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels (e.g., horns, fans).

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

This role supports all hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities as necessary and requires a flexible work schedule.
