Summary

 

The Housing authority of Salt Lake City is looking for and experienced System Architect to join our growing team! Under the direction of the IT Manager, the System Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing information systems that will adequately support the infrastructure of the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City (HASLC) and its non-profit subsidiaries. Relocation assistance provided (details below).

 

Essential Functions

  1. Analyzes system requirements and defines system architecture that will meet business needs, including server infrastructure, capacity planning, storage requirements, and networking design and protocols.
  2. Act as an internal consultant across the enterprise providing architectural perspective and vision, in identifying, designing, planning, developing, and implementing initiatives around both new and existing technology products.
  3. Provide hands-on application of technologies and processes to support development, and review of critical systems and train other teams within the organization.
  4. Explain detailed technical information in both written and verbal form across a wide range of audiences, including business stakeholders, users, developers, and project managers.
  5. Perform system administration of the enterprise infrastructure including upgrades, patches, backups, and hardware support.
  6. Oversees backup, security, and user help systems.
  7. Participates in the evaluation and/or selection of solutions or products, including requirements definition, vendor, and product evaluations.
  8. Act as a local expert for areas of domain expertise and as an escalation point for technical teams to include hands on expertise.
  9. Designing and implement a multiple location environment with remote sites.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows Domains, Active Directory, DNS, Mail, DNS
  • Experience using OS imaging software
  • Solid foundation in Layer-2 and Layer-3 switching
  • Experience with VOIP, PBX phone systems
  • Experience working with major SaaS platforms and Cloud based architectures in Azure including SSO and MFA.
  • Ability to explain technical problems and offer solutions to those without technological training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships across the business.
  • Ability to work in a highly independent role and as a team player.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a valid Utah driver's license and insurable with HASLC on a continuing basis.

Benefits:

  • Medical, vision and dental benefits; which HASLC pays 90% of employee premiums and 75% of dependent premiums. Currently offer traditional and high deductible options with Regence Blue Cross.
  • Vacation leave of 40 hours once hired and accrue 1.54 hours per pay period in 1st year (40 hours).
  • Sick leave is accrued at the rate of 2.77 per pay period in 1st year (72 hours).
  • One paid personnel holiday (8 hours) per year.
  • Paid company recognized holidays (13 holidays in 2021).

  • All HASLC employees tested as proficient in any language (including American Sign Language) other than English will receive a 2% language barrier assistance compensation.
  • Participation in the Utah Retirement Systems with 401k and pension options, no match required for employer contribution. HASLC follows 2018-2019 URS contribution rates.
  • Two Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). Through EAP, HASLC provides confidential access to professional counseling services. The EAP program is available to all employees and their immediate family members and offers problem assessment, short-term counseling and referral to appropriate community and private services.
  • There are several other the benefit programs such as Social Security, workers' compensation, state disability, and unemployment insurance cover all employees as required by law.

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE provided for the following:

  • Moving household goods and personal effects including hiring professional movers or renting a moving vehicle and packing supplies, including paying towards the costs for packing, shipping and unpacking household effects
  • Travel, including airfare and other public transportation costs, and lodging for self and immediate family members between your prior and new place of residence

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related field required with at least seven years of experience managing Windows Server, installing/configuring server hardware and operating system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment with prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands; and reach with hands and arms. This position routinely uses standard office equipment.

 

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Travel is minimal and primarily local.
