Job Description



HBNS is looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining and administering our company and our clients’ physical and virutal computer networks. Your primary duties will include maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary. You will also be working closely with the users of our network in order to identify potential issues and fix existing problems.

To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a proficient understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. You will also need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: (Academic, Professional, Relevant Job Knowledge)


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (can be
    substituted by or equivalent IT work experience)
  • 4+ years working in a Network Engineering role
  • Solid Understanding of networking protocols, network security practices, and network design
  • Self-motivated, results-driven
  • Solid understanding of at least some of the following:
    • OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IPv4/6, NAT, VTP, VLANs, 802.1Q, 802.1x, STP/RSTP/MST, HDLC, SNMPv2/3, LACP, PAgP, L2 Port Security, BFD, UDLD, NSR, NSF, QoS, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, CoPP, Fiber Channel (FC), FCoE, iSCSI, GRE/IPSEC, EEM, Nexus VPC, VRF lite, Radius, TACACS+
  • Experience with supporting and configuring the following:
    • Network switches (Cisco, preferably)
    • Network routers (Cisco, preferably)
    • Firewalls (Cisco, pfSense)
    • Wireless Access Controllers (Cisco & Ruckus, preferably)
    • Wireless Access Points (Cisco & Ruckus, preferably)
    • Site-to-site and client VPNs
    • VoIP phone systems (Cisco, cloud)
    • AWS networking
    • Network/Infrastructure Monitoring tools
    • Network Diagnostics tools
  • Zabbix or similar network monitors
  • NetFlow, Wireshark, Fiddler
  • Network security
  • Multi-Factor Authentication
  • HIPAA or PCI compliance concepts, requirements
  • Active Directory experience a plus
  • SAN Storage experience a plus

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Directory Configuration/Administration
  • SAN/High Availability Storage Configuration/Management
  • Experience implementing MFA across corporate organizations

  • VMware ESXi/vCenter Management

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform)

  • Experience with and at least one Configuration Management tool (Puppet, Ansible)

  • PowerShell scripting experience

  • Windows/Linux server administration experience a plus

  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment (25lbs or more)
  • Requires extended hours on a personal computer
  • Open plan air conditioned office
  • Participation in 24x7 On-Call schedule, requiring periodic off-hours work
  • Some travel may be required
