Location: Lynchburg VA, 24504
Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week), 3 days per week with 12.5 hour shifts, or 5 day schedule with flex hours.
Available Schedules: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 10:00 am to 10:30 pm; or Monday through Friday flex schedule 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm with 1 weekend per month
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field (including social work, counseling, behavioral science, psychology, or other DMAS approved human services and related fields degrees).
- A minimum of one year of documented clinical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that qualifies the incumbent as a QMHP-A.
IMPORTANT: **As of January 3, 2018, QMHP or QMHP Trainee must be registered with the Board before the person can provide services and bill for those services. All QMHPs must be registered by December 31, 2018. We urge QMHPs to submit an application as soon as possible. Due to the anticipated volume of QMHPs, the registration process will take time. The Clinician – QMHP (A) provides recovery-oriented clinical services, and include skills training, counseling, and discharge planning to assure continuity of care in transitioning to outpatient services to adults experiencing mental health or substance abuse issues at Horizon's Courtland Wellness Center and recovery home. Clinicians in our Crisis Stabilization provide direct service that help individuals achieve and manage their mental illness. Clinicians also facilitate groups and provide individual therapy to address client needs regarding managing their mental health issues and remaining in the community, in addition to collaborating with outside agencies and community resources to assist in treatment of clients. Training is provided.
Related Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
Ability to record data and complete documentation within established expectations and by communicated deadlines.
Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required.
Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client @other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites;
Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
Knowledge of evidenced based programs included but limited to the following; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; substance abuse interventions; etc.
Knowledge of community mental health resources in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources.
Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse.
Skill to communicate effectively in order to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team.
