Certified Nursing Aides and Assistants - Full Time (3-11 and 11-7); Part time for all shifts

Nursing aides and assistants handle basic tasks under the direction of registered or licensed practical nurses. Personal hygiene duties include brushing residents' teeth, bathing them, combing hair, changing clothes and shaving them. Toiletry duties include assisting residents who need help going to the bathroom, changing bedpans and emptying catheters. Other common responsibilities include maintaining patient records, dietary care, bedsore prevention, collecting samples and assisting with transporting patients.

CNA Responsibilities:

Providing great patient care.

Answering patient calls and determining how best to help them.

Providing physical support for patients or residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, - using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.

Turning and repositioning bedridden patients.

Ensuring patients or residents receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences.

Obtaining a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans, and suggested activities.

Measuring and recording food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.

Recording vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by staff.

Examining patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises or blood in urine.

Reminding patients to take medications and nutritional supplements.

Noting observations of patient behavior, including complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses.

Stay up to date on CNA training and facility policy and procedure.

CNA Requirements:

State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.

Current CPR (American Heart Association).

Nursing degree from a CNA program.

Ability to think and work independently and with direction, and communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.

Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

High School graduate or equivalent.

Current identification.

Comfortable using a computer.

Excellent personal hygiene.

Hopkins Manor is a 200 bed skilled nursing facility located at 610 Smithfield Road in North Providence, Rhode Island. It has been family owned and operated since 1974. Hopkins Manor provides short-term and long-term care, skilled nursing services, sub-acute rehabilitation, memory impairment care including Alzheimer’s and dementia, hospice and respite services. By providing a full range of supportive nursing care services, we have the capability of easily responding to a resident’s changing needs within our home. For a resident, it means not having to be relocated to another facility in order to receive the quality care they need. This can make a significant difference in a person’s quality of care and quality of life. This is specially true for the frail, since abrupt relocation can be a difficult event. Over the years, Hopkins Manor has prioritized quality improvement efforts in a variety of ways. We have collaborated with the Rhode Island Quality Innovation Network - Quality Improvement Organizations (RI QIN-QIO), Healthcentric Advisors, since the 8th Scope of Work (SOW). Healthcentric Advisors “recognizes the commitment of Hopkins Manor in support of CMS’ goals to enhance health outcomes, reduce health care disparities, and achieve excellence in patient/caregiver experience.” Most recently, we have had nursing leadership changes. We have hired a new Director of Nursing, who is leading our Quality Improvement (QI) efforts and working closely with the QIN-QIO. Hopkins Manor is a member of the Healthcare Coalition of Rhode Island Response Plan to implement effective healthcare emergency preparedness and response capabilities. We are currently certified as a Center for Excellence for Wound Management by VOHRA Wound Physicians. Hopkins Manor received a Certificate of Appreciation on February 14, 2018, “for the outstanding support and excellence performance in the Research study on Infections in ‘Long-Term Care Facilities’ conducted by the Division of Infectious Diseases of Rhode Island Hospital.”
