Job Summary

The Training Specialist (TS) is part of the program team at Hope Institute and reports directly to the Program Director. This team trains orphanage leadership throughout the world to improve the quality of care for orphans and vulnerable children. The TS works with other team members to develop comprehensive training materials, and participates in field training and orphanage assessments. When training, the TS can expect to travel domestically and internationally, usually in week-long blocks.


Specific Duties

  • Develops publication-quality curricular materials for use in training
  • Develops teaching and training aids to support curricular materials
  • Participates in assessment and scoring of residential programs
  • Advises Program Director regarding assessment-based recommendations for the improvement of care at specific residential programs
  • Functions as the primary communicator in Spanish-speaking countries
  • Travels as part of a small training team to implement policy and practice interventions at international orphanages
  • Monitors program implementation


Candidate Description

  • Has excellent skills speaking, reading, and writing in English and Spanish
  • Available to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally
  • Able to adapt to a variety of cultures and engage respectfully with partners from all religious backgrounds
  • Able to quickly establish and maintain good rapport with clients and partners
  • Comfortable communicating with and presenting to groups of any size
  • Highly-motivated and able to contribute meaningfully to the work of the organization as part of a collaborative team
  • Capable with both quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Curious, and always learning


Basic Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in childhood development, social work, public policy, or a related field
  • A deep concern for the wellbeing of children, especially those in out-of-family care
  • C-2 level fluency in Spanish
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Task-oriented
  • Proficient in Google Suite


Preferred Assets

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with curriculum development
  • Experience as a trainer/teacher
  • Experience with youth-serving organizations
