Job Description

General Summary:

Responsible for labor time keeping accounts receivable, invoicing, and general accounting duties. Provides assistance for division bids when necessary. Assists in developing, coordinating and maintaining an integrated financial control plan of the operations, general accounting and budget tracking for the division.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for divisional payroll time and equipment recording, general accounting processing, and administrative tasks of the Electrical Power Division.
  • Assist in division bidding process and serve as back-up as needed.
  • Prepare monthly billings and audit other staff billings as needed.
  • Utilizes COIN system for job setups, budget entry and on-going tracking of changes as required.
  • Prepares, analyzes and interprets various financial reports.
  • Assists with training accounting and support staff in the use of automated construction accounting system (COINS) for recording job cost and sales transactions.
  • Identifies, plans, documents, and implements improvements to financial and department procedures through coordination and approval of Department Managers.
  • Acts as backup resource for various accounting positions as needed and acts as liaison with customers and outside vendors.
  • Acts as liaison between customers, vendors, and project management staff, as needed.
  • Performs additional assignments as directed by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Four-year college degree in accounting.
  • Must be proficient in complex invoicing, accounting and spreadsheet software applications.
  • Minimum of three to five years of progressive public or corporate business accounting experience.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to proof read documents and accurately prepares various reports.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of general construction accounting principles, payroll and invoicing.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with the knowledge of basic computer hardware is required.
  • Experience with customer relations and service related problem solving is required.

Description of physical working environment:

  • Normal office environment. Routinely works from a sitting position with a computer. Repetitive typing and computer use required. Regular bending, twisting, and light lifting is common.
  • Occasional travel required.
