This hands-on Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for developing a high performing team that is highly collaborative and flexible to meet the changing day to day demands of the business, while driving sustainable process improvement.

The Shipping Supervisor has oversight of all shipping functions to ensure the timely fulfillment and delivery of customer products, manages the Shipping Coordinator and his/her respective forklift drivers, pickers, and clerks, and support the team to ensure that safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost metrics exceed business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage shipments to meet LTL and TL shipping requirements for “big box” retailers
  • Monitor overall shipping operations to provide services that meet safety, quality, cost, volume, and timeliness criteria
  • Manage staff assignments in response to rapidly changing product mix and seasonal demand
  • Train and develop team members to take ownership of their responsibilities and processes
  • Coach and mentor key employees for professional development
  • Use root cause analysis to put in place counter measures to eliminate waste
  • Set expectations and measure performance of shipping associates in completing material handling moves, performing full case picking, and loading LTL and TL shipments.
  • Cultivate team culture with a ‘safety first’ mindset
  • Certify new forklift drivers and complete annual training and certification for existing forklift drivers.
  • Responsible for maintaining warehouse cleanliness

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Engineering/Logistics or Related Field is preferred.
  • Forklift Certified if required
  • Must have 5+ years’ experience in a warehouse environment with 2+ years’ experience in a leadership role
  • Experience shipping to big box retailers preferred
  • Prior consumer goods products experience preferred
  • Experience working in a LEAN and/or 6 Sigma environment
  • Experience leading Kaizen events is preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferable
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence and lead change throughout the organization
  • Excellent management skills and ability to interact with all levels of organization
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse, inventory, and shipping operations methods and practices
  • Proficient with MS Office; Apprise ERP/WMS experience is a plus
  • Willingness to work off-shift or on weekends in response to critical issues or seasonal demand
