Job Summary


Homestead Building Systems, Inc., has been servicing the Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. area with the finest truss systems and wall panels for residential construction since 1996. Our company provides framing manufacturing, distribution, and construction services to the most respected home builders in the marketplace. The Human Resources Manager is a strategic partner for HBS, ensuring the company has the right talent to meet its objectives. The successful candidate will be personable, detail-oriented, and interfaces well with all levels of the organization.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations and representing the organization at hearings
  • Creates and updates forms, policies and procedures including revising the employee handbook as needed
  • Oversees the analysis, maintenance and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies or other departments in the organization
  • Prepares HR related regulatory surveys, filings and audits
  • Works with department managers to maintain the company structure by updating organizational charts, job requirements and job descriptions for all positions
  • Monitors and schedules individual pay actions and makes recommendations for pay structure revisions
  • Coordinates and administers the performance review process. Ensures appropriate feedback, engagement from managers and tracks completion. Schedules management conferences with employees; advises employees and supervisors
  • Administers the Safety and Return to Work Programs (in compliance with OSHA and all regulations)
  • Provides support to the accounting team for HR related transactions
  • Evaluates Human Resources Information System, makes recommendations and implements changes
  • Maintains and updates employee benefit programs including conducting educational meetings for employees regarding the benefit programs and resolving claim disputes
  • Hires, trains and provides continuous feedback to human resource staff
  • Establishes and updates recruiting, testing and interviewing program(s); counsels managers on candidate selection; conducts exit interviews and recommends changes
  • Prepares budget for human resource operations and provides variance analysis
  • Reports to the company owner and collaborates with the Leadership and Management Teams
  • Balances the need for compliance while maintaining a positive company culture
  • Works with various organizations to develop avenues for job recruitment (high schools, trade schools, colleges, work centers, etc.)
  • Stays up-to-date with professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications and participating in professional societies
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field required
  • Minimum ten (10) years of HR Management experience preferred
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred
  • Fluent in English and Spanish is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of FLSA, ERISA, FMLA and other Federal and state/local labor laws
  • Must be computer savvy and proficient in all MS Office Suite

Travel

  • Consistent travel between the office in Bristow, VA and the office in Orange, VA; additional travel is required at times

Physical Demands

  • This position requires consistent lifting, pulling, bending, standing throughout the day
  • Must be able to detect issues/errors in documents and communicates constantly with others
  • Must be able to walk throughout the manufacturing and distribution facilities and yards
