Job Description
Hospital Based - Onsite
Leads the Medical Staff Peer Review Process:
*Exhibits knowledge and skill in Medical Staff Peer Review activities, screens relevant data, reviews records, prepares. reports, minutes and demonstrates effective communication with Chairman and Vice Chiefs.
* Coordinates Medical Staff Performance Improvement (MSPI) committee meetings.
* Screens Quality Indicators, logs and referrals to identify cases for review.
* Coordinates cases for further review by the physician peer.
* Notifies the Vice Chief of findings that meets criteria for case presentation in MSPI.
* Prepares agenda for MSPI meeting and discuss the cases and agenda with chairman of the MSPI.
Organizes the Medical Staff Performance Improvement Committee:
*Establish a professional relationship with the committee members and communicate effectively with all members.
* Schedules monthly MSPI meetings and schedule special sessions as directed by the committee chairman.
* Prepares committees minutes, agendas, for the meeting, review with Chairman for approval.
* Ensures confidentiality is maintained during the process.
* Schedule and invite physicians to attend meetings per committee's request.
Coordinates FPPE with the medical staff office to complete credentialing process and certify the medical staff re-appointments.
* Coordinates list of new physicians for FPPE review, screen records and notify the department chairman for further record review.
Notifies Department Director of any event that meets criteria for external reporting. Provides relevant updates to Department Director.
Maintain statistical reports for tracking/trending of event reporting.

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor degree in Nursing required
* Preferred: Risk Managers license
* Experience in healthcare professional and general liability insurance preferred. * Minimum of one years experience in area of hospital risk prevention and management
* Excellent communication skills are imperative.
* Knowledge of personal computers and word processing, as well as proficiency in use of all other office equipment required.
Licensure
* Registered Nurse in the State of Florida

- Initiates investigations and schedule ad hoc meetings as needed to obtain information to close investigations.
- Assists with investigations, collect data, reviews medical records and prepares summary
- Serves as a liaison for Physicians and Colleagues, as it relates to patient related events, and initiates investigation to complete investigation as needed.
- Facilitates and coordinates the Physician Peer Review Program.
- Assist with developing and implementing proactive risk management strategies.

- Makes recommendation to conduct RCA.
- Provides feedback to the involved department action plans based on findings.
- Schedules ad hoc meetings as needed to gather data and information for report submission.
- Prepares FDA report and submit in the absence of the Director.
- Prepares the Code-15 report and submit in the absence of the Director.
Maintain statistical reports for tracking/trending of event reporting.
- Participates in the developing of required reports.
- Monitor Event Reporting performance and implements appropriate intervention to improve accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
- Preparation and analysis of statistical reports related to events, and risk management.
- Assists in preparation of Risk Management reports.
- Participates in Root Cause Analysis and assist with Risk Reduction strategy.
