Job Description

Hocking Hills Lodge & Conference Center located inside of Hocking Hills State Park is seeking candidates for a Hotel Director of Sales to guide the sales team to generate revenue for overnight lodging, corporate events and social functions.

This is a brand new 81 room lodge with 40 cabins, a full service restaurant and banquet facilities to accommodate up to 200 guests. More property information at This is a great opportunity to help open the newest of the State Park Lodges in Ohio this Fall!

Hocking Hills State Park is one of the most visited State Parks in the country requiring a level of attention to detail and service to meet the guest's expectations and experience.

The Director of Sales will be responsible for both inside and outside sales: converting inquiry business, and proactively finding new business through sales calls, marketing, and group shows. The Director of Sales will participate in Regency’s Sales Revelation Prospecting Program.

Offering a salary range of $55K - $60K dependent on experience plus sales incentive program. Requires ability to travel locally on a frequent basis and some overnight travel throughout Ohio 2 – 3 times per year. Full benefit package available after 60 days, 401k, and PTO available.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Create and implement effective direct sales and strategies and lead sales personnel towards achievement of corporate sales objectives and budget.
  • Solicit new and existing group business in the local, regional, and national market to build sales leads.
  • Develop, establish, maintain & monitor overall sales and event procedures. Reporting to include market analysis, analysis of competition, preparation of annual Sales plan, and onboarding plan for all team members.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecast.
  • Benchmark sales efforts: Group rooms, catering and leisure.
  • Participate in revenue strategy meetings and recommend strategies to improve sales.
  • Oversee and evaluate market research and adjust sales strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Work closely with rooms, food and beverage and other department managers to exceed group satisfaction.
  • Assist in establishing pricing structure for property on an annual basis & ensure that rate integrity is maintained.
  • Tour prospective clients & coordinate tour process.
  • Establish & maintain a positive working relationship with area hotels & vendors.
  • Meet & exceed monthly sales goals.
  • Monitor sales contracts & monitor collection of payments & deposits.
  • Attend industry-related tradeshows, community events and industry meetings.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Basic education at High School level or equivalent.
  • 3 years of event planning or hotel sales at a full service property; 1-2 years in a leadership role

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales/Marketing or Event Planning
  • Previous experience in a Banquet, Food & Beverage, Rooms Division or Front Office environment

Required Work Skills & Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of group booking pace, backlog, reservations pace, rate yielding or conversion in an effort to identify any future revenue and performance shortfalls and upside opportunities
  • Ability to use business intelligence and information to implement direct strategies to positively affect group sales bookings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to give direction
  • Ability to balance multiple commitments simultaneously
  • Understanding of budgetary and fiscal responsibility of the lodge overall and within the department
  • Strong contracting skills including negotiation and closing skills
  • Possess experience with managing a Sales & Marketing team to include talent selection, management and training.
  • Ability to qualify businesses and yield management skills
  • Ability to travel as needed in the local area but also outside of the area or to other Regency/US Hotel OSP Ventures locations occasionally
  • Must have strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office products
  • Possess knowledge of group meetings and conference markets with a strong knowledge of corporate, association, SMERF, incentive and other market segments.
  • Knowledge of iVvy, Delphi, SMS or similar property management system
