Sr Electrical Engineer Audio Power Amp Design (Manufacturer)

About This Role
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with specialization in Class D audio power amplifier design.

In this role, you can expect to collaborate closely with a product development team of Engineers with multiple specializations. This position is within a cross-disciplinary team, responsible for the design of professional audio, video and control products from concept to production.


Responsibilities:

  • Define requirements for new products and develop test and verification plansDesign digital and analog circuits for next generation audio amplification products
  • Coordinate with FPGA, mechanical, DSP, firmware and software engineers
  • Create schematics and coordinate with PCB engineers for layout
  • Interact with materials procurement, manufacturing and test personnel to ensure products are manufactured efficiently
  • Estimate new product cost


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • BS or MS (preferred) in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years designing and developing analog and digital hardware
  • Theoretical and practical experience designing high performance, Class-D amplification products
  • Knowledge of ADC/DAC design and implementation concepts
  • Strong understanding of medium-speed (50-500 MHz) signal integrity concepts
  • Previous experience in designing products to meet regulatory requirements including UL, CE and FCC
  • Knowledge of serial communications protocols and hardware interfaces including I2S, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet
  • Strong background in the use of oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and other test equipment for debugging and analysis
  • Experience in specifying and verifying audio performance
  • Experience with Altium Schematic and PCB design tools or similar tools
  • Experience in circuit simulation using Spice, HyperLynx or similar tools
  • Experience in designing magnetics parts including inductors and transformers
  • Experience in AC-DC mains and DC-DC switch-mode power converter design
  • Good written communications skills to prepare specifications, lab reports, theories of operation, etc.
