Outstanding manufacturing company seeks a team player with strong technical and communication skills to be a critical interface between sales, engineering, and customers. This Applications Engineer will work closely with customers to understand their metrology requirements and recommend solutions based on existing and next generation products. This individual will also provide technical customer support and help to develop new business opportunities.
This Applications Engineering position will be working in the Precision Positioning System group (PPS) with our displacement interferometer and absolute position sensor products. This position will report in to the PPS Product Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support sales team as the product expert during customer emails, calls, or visits.
Analyze customer applications and recommend solutions to their problems based on our group’s product offering and core competencies. Run experiments to determine feasibility of new customer applications or troubleshoot customer issues.
Address incoming technical or service inquiries from customers in a timely manner or according to an agreed upon schedule.
Train customers on basic technology, systems design, and product use. Assist customers with debugging application problems both on site and remotely.
Represent the Company at trade shows and conferences.
Represent the voice of the customer during internal meetings.
Create and manage technical documentation, marketing collateral, and presentations intended for customers.
Identify new opportunities with existing customers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Knowledge of metrology, optics, electronics and software helpful. Demonstrated ability to self-manage responsibilities, work through problems independently, as well as work collaboratively
with a team.
Must be willing and able to travel internationally (10-20%) for up to 8
consecutive days at a time.
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
B.S. Engineering, Physics or related. Preferred 3 years of related industry experience.
