Position Summary: 

The Subscription team is seeking a Marketing Manager to drive and execute marketing strategy for Highlights Subscription Business. This person will manage the acquisition marketing strategy that drives growth and profitability for all subscription products acquired via digital channels and for third party agency business in collaboration with channel managers including: eCommerce (owned and 3rd party), creative, product, operations and customer service. This person will propose and implement new offers, promotions, and product positioning based on data and analysis, in collaboration with cross functional partners and the analytics team. They will monitor and track progress for all digital channel P&Ls and financial budgets.  This person should be a self-starter with digital direct marketing experience who is able to challenge norms and champion change based on data-driven decision making.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Represent the Subscription Business in working with the Highlights Ecommerce Teams (, internal digital agency, 3rd party partners) to acquire new enrollments for the Subscription Business. 
  • Align strategies and goals with ‘1 Consumer Business’ key strategic initiatives. 
  • Product expert that ensures all descriptions, offer presentations, and pricing strategies are aligned across all digital channels being the source of truth for multiple cross functional partners across the organization.
  • Lead strategy and execution for all subscription products (magazine and clubs products currently) in key digital Customer Acquisition channels – site, email, paid media, search, 3rd party sites (ex: Amazon) and 3rd party agency business (ex: Publisher’s Clearing House). 
  • Represent the Subscription Business in working with the Highlights Ecommerce Teams (, internal digital agency, 3rd party partners) to acquire new enrollments for the Subscription Business. 
  • Develop growth strategies for managed sources working in close coordination with the Internal Digital Agency team, Product, Creative, Operations, Campaign Planning and Analytics teams. 
  • Manage outside vendors to get commitment for growth strategies and to execute campaigns. 
  • Accountable for financial performance volumes, revenue and expenses for managed sources working in close partnership with the Product teams, Ecommerce teams and outside vendors. 
  • Work closely with print acquisition team on coordination of offers, creative and results. 
What you should show up ready to teach anyone on your first day:
  • Develop comprehensive testing strategies annually (updated during the year) that explore creative, offer presentation, pricing, and premiums. 
  • Engage with Creative and Branding teams to identify opportunities to infuse winning creative with new branding. 
  • Develop strong working relationships with all internal partners including Subscription teams, Ecommerce teams, Operations teams, Creative teams, Content teams for planning products promotions for all online sources.  
Within your first month, you’ll: 
  • Work with product team and financial teams to understand current budgets, and reforecast process for all products/sources. Continually monitor progress versus goals. Track expenses closely during year. 
  • Direct and approve the planning, testing, and creative for all marketing campaigns.
Within your first year, you’ll:
  • Determine growth opportunities for digital sources for all product lines. Outline strategy for future. 
  • Develop strategy for Agency business including growing key agencies. Establish strong working relationships with outside vendor. 
  • Explore opportunities with 3rd party agencies to offer club products in a manner that drives growth in a profitable manner.
  • Manage and develop Senior Marketing Associate, including deep knowledge of all product lines and outside vendors.  

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Oversee Senior Marketing Associate.  

Education and Experience:

Bachelors’ Degree in Marketing/Business or related with 5+ years direct work experience in Subscription based Marketing, Analytics, Ecommerce and/or Customer Experience. 7+ years’ experience in previously named areas without degree.   

Preferred candidates for the role will have:  

  • Experience creating and interpreting digital marketing strategy.
  • Experience working directly in Ecommerce Marketing or with Ecommerce Marketing teams
  • Budgeting/Forecasting experience.
  • Lead and/or executed Customer Experience specific initiatives.
  • Demonstrated the ability to lead and execute strategy and goals with cross functional partners. 


Must be comfortable in the Microsoft Suite of products but have extensive knowledge and expertise in Excel.  

No regular travel required for this role.
