Job Description

 

Job Title: Maintenance C                   Current as of: 07/20                      Status: Hourly

 

Job Purpose: Performs duties to trouble shoot, repair, install, set up, and adjust equipment/machinery throughout the plant and

building maintenance with minimal supervision. Works from prints, sketches, work orders, and instructions:

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot and correct machine problems in the production area.

  • Perform setup, adjustment, and repair work on all equipment in production and in tool room.

  • Assemble, install, and adjust machinery.

  • Build simple dies, jigs, and fixtures from sketches and prints.

  • Perform welding, as directed.

  • Perform a variety of work, using knowledge of electrical, water, air, gas, and hydraulic circuits, with supervision, as needed.

  • Perform a variety of schedule machinery testing and documentation.

  • Perform building maintenance work, as needed.

  • Prepare required paperwork and reports.

  • Notify supervisor of equipment or operating difficulties.

  • Use hand and power tools, as well as all tool room machinery such as drill press, saw, grinder, milling machine, lathe, etc. Use precision measuring equipment. Operate forklift and man lift.

    Essential Functions Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

  • Must furnish own tools to perform work, as specified in maintenance A position.

  • Lift and or move weights ranging from 30-5000 lbs., or more, using hoists or other mechanical means.

  • Requires frequent pushing, pulling, twisting, and reaching.

  • Working in a variety of work positions, including heights.

  • Operations require stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing or crawling.

  • Continuous standing and walking, some sitting.

  • Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects – up to 60 pounds.

  • Work environment is sometimes loud.

  • Good depth perception for fork truck operation.

  • Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment. Exposure to dangerous equipment.

  • Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.

  • Job requires standing, walking, climbing stairs and sitting.

  • Ability to hear warnings from equipment, machines, vehicles and public-address systems.

  • Requires frequent reaching at or below shoulder height, some over shoulder work.

  • Requires frequent movement of head and neck.

  • Clothing and shoes must comply with current MIOSHA regulations and current dress code policy.

  • Use of a video display terminal (VDT) for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eye strain from extended periods of viewing VDT.

    Specialized Training, Skills, Abilities, Experience:

  • Good working knowledge of basic mechanical principles and shop mathematics.

  • Ability to operate machinery in tool room.

  • Ability to learn to operate most machinery in production areas.

  • Ability to read and work form blueprints and sketches.

  • Capability to be trained in electrical, mechanical, machining and welding skills.

  • Capability to be trained to use a Computer database for inventory and work order systems.

  • Ability to work overtime, as requested.

    Exposure:

  • Dust, noise, heat, molten material, vibration, chemicals moving vehicles and manufacturing odor.

  • The factory condition environment is not air conditioned but heated.
