Hi Fidelity Genetics seeks an engineer to help build root sensing hardware. The applicant must have a love for physical hacking and be willing to range across many areas including materials, electronics, programming, scientific research.

Responsibilities and Duties
Create innovative mechanical and electrical solutions.
Design and execute prototype tests.
Analyze and interpret test results.
Generate embedded code to run on PIC/AVR microcontrollers.
Create and maintain code documentation.
Create and maintain database systems.
Interface with external suppliers.
Acquire and set up new fabrication equipment and create the associated tooling
Make improvements to manufacturing processes, products, equipment, tools and product quality.
Work with a team and independently while taking on a wide variety of duties.
Skills (Must have 4 from this list)
Proficiency with at least 2 programming languages including Python.
Experience with PIC/AVR microcontrollers.
Experience with analog / digital IC's
Proficiency with Linux CLI
Experience with Raspberry pi's
Working understanding of parametric CAD and PCB layout software.
Experience designing, executing, and analyzing scientific experiments.
Strong knowledge of scientific principles.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Ability to provide clear and structured written documentation.
BS in engineering or equivalent experience.
Preferred: 1-3 years experience in a technical/manufacturing/research lab environment.
Ability to independently learn new skills.
Ability to self-direct, think creatively and independently manage projects.
An interest in an engineering career within the preliminary design branch of product development.
Strong awareness of cutting edge technology, current industry trends and practices in sensors, automation and/or robotics.
Possess strong communication, verbal, written and analytical skills.
