Job Description

Hernon Formulating Services, located in Sanford, Florida is seeking a Manufacturing Production Manager to be part of our team.

Position Summary

Lead the manufacturing function within budget and output targets to meet customer requirements and standards. Full accountability for ensuring safety, customer quality, cost and delivery requirements are met. Responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team by building working relationships ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. Manage the team on best practice and establish standard policies and procedures while also mentoring and leading teams. Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Effectively and efficiently manage the bulk and filling production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations;
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance;

· Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity;

· Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime;

· Coordinates or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.

· Manufacturing Direct and Indirect cost – Responsible for effective cost management and use of resources to support production demands, delivered at the efficient cost – Unit Cost of Manufacture per kilogram

· Communicate and liaise with other departmental managers to ensure production targets are met;

· Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines;

· Supervise employees in the production department;

· Ensure the operation follows health, safety and environmental policies and procedures (EPA, OSHA and other lawful rules and regulations) to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors;

· Provide motivation, support, technical expertise, and guidance to all employees;

· Create schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels;

· Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime;

· May hire, terminate, discipline, promote, or demote employees as warranted after consultation with the General Manager and the Director of Human Resources;

· Perform job performance reviews and recommends wage adjustments;

· Conduct training and submits SOP’s as necessary;

· Provide input and prepare the annual production budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards;

· Responsible for achieving budget and forecast;

· Drive process improvements

· Provide regular status reports and capacity plan

· Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for the area, and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports

· Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them

· Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department;

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • BS/BA Degree (chemical engineering or chemistry degree preferred)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a management position in a manufacturing environment. Chemical industry is preferred
  • Proficient in MS-Office and ERP system

· Proficient with KPI reporting, cost analysis and presentations

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to plan and meet deadlines.

· Knowledgeable in Quality Standards and Lean principles

· Works will in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision
