Aftermarket Sales Customer Service Representative

Herc-U-Lift, Inc., a sales and service provider of forklifts, aerial, and construction equipment, is looking for an Aftermarket Sales Customer Service Representative for the Iowa and South Dakota areas.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for service, parts, rentals and operator training sales. This includes sales of planned maintenance agreements, service work, counter parts, short term rentals, operator training, and service quote follow up.
 

The Rep will be based at our Sioux Falls, SD location (4615 N Cliff Ave Sioux Falls, SD 57104), with travel to customer sites as needed.

 

Other responsibilities include:

 

  • Promoting long term customer satisfaction, as measured by repeat business.
  • Developing stronger ties with existing customers and growing the customer base.
  • Following up on all major sales.
  • Accuracy of the Herc-U-Lift database, including customer name and address, contacts, and equipment listing, using CRM contact management software. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Obtain, maintain and optimize customer relations through planned and regular sales visits and communications
  • Achieve sales objectives
  • Identify target prospects and create strategic action plans to develop the accounts as customers
  • Perform audits of customers’ fleets and make appropriate recommendations
  • Follow-up on all customer leads from external and internal sources
  • Participate with product promotions from external and internal sources
  • Manage all custom programs installed at the assigned accounts
  • Promote operator and technical training, tires, safety equipment, parts, service and rentals
  • Sell periodic maintenance contracts
  • Resolve any customer issues, problems or complaints to maximize customer satisfaction and retention
  • Increase rental sales at Herc-U-Lift competitive accounts
  • Enhance vendor relations by supporting programs and working with their representatives
  • Attend and participate in all sales or company meetings
  • Participate in company sponsored training sessions for enhancing selling skills and technical knowledge
  • Communicate regularly with inside sales personnel and management
  • Present a professional image in personal appearance, dress and preparation
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Pursue increasing knowledge of the territory and competitors and relay to management
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Be open and participating in coaching with managers/coach
  • Schedule follow-up visits on all initial PM, fleet services and major shop work
  • Assist management of consignment inventories

 

Qualifications:

 

Strong organizational, computer and people skills are required. Customer service and time management skills are essential to this position. College degree preferred, but not required. Mechanical aptitude is beneficial to the position as well.  2-5 years proven sales experience is preferred but not required. 

 

  • Experience in material handling sales is preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Great interpersonal skills – displays honesty, ethics and integrity at all times
  • Ability to organize a selling plan and exhibit time management skills
  • Competency in time and territory management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance and dependable vehicle
  • Proficient computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, web searches, etc.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the job
  • Must have prompt and regular attendance
  • Must have a minimum of ten field customer calls, two of which are out appointments per day
  • Must be able to adjust and initiate change
