Job Description: Position Overview: Manufacturing Manager is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and reporting all essential functions of extraction operations. The Manufacturing Manager leads the company's overall extraction setup, staffing, equipment purchasing, processing protocols, strategy, and day-to-day-production. All duties are performed while supervising a team of extraction technicians, ensuring all safety and compliance protocols are adhered to on the production floor. The Manufacturing Manager reports to the CEO and works closely with other Department Heads. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the CEO SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Kitchen Manager, Manufacturing Technicians, and Kitchen Technicians Facility Access Permissions • Security Systems Access: Arm/Disarm Alarm System, Camera Viewing and Playback Access• Key card access to:CEO• METRC: Admin Privileges General Duties (Not Exhaustive of all Duties) • Oversee, direct, and operate all aspects of the manufacturing department from product pre-prep to extraction and post-processing. • Have a firm understanding of the cannabis market, trends, and products. • Work toward setting and meeting department goals around efficiencies, yields and cost. • Ability to operate and control all equipment in a laboratory-type environment. • Works with CEO to develop and document SOPs for extraction department • Work with the CEO to develop the manufacturing department workflow, processes, and procedures. • Recruit, hire and train extraction technicians and other positions in the extraction department in tandem with the CEO • Directly supervise extraction technicians. • Evaluate performance (perform bi-annual performance reviews), set goals, provide feedback and discipline to extraction team members. • Ensures consistency and efficacy of product through quality control testing and procedures. • Organize and oversee all duties required to ensure a clean and safe production facility. • Creation of all batch production records and labels in accordance with State and local standards. • Work with local, State-approved laboratories to perform regular and required testing of extracted products. 1 • Document all lab results necessary for State regula tory compliance. • Maintain, clean, or sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment. • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications of. • Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory safety audits. • Train new employees on topics such as the proper operation oflaboratory equipment. • Order and inventory materials to maintain supplies. • Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses. • Develop or conduct programs of sampling and analysis to maintain quality stcindards of raw materials, chemical intermediates, or products. • Manage raw material inventory. • Draft and present quarterly reports on new and cutting-edge extraction techniques and technologies to the CEO. • Assist in the management of farmer liaison communications. • The coordination of raw material drop-off with farmer partners and maintaining a schedule. • Understand and know the assembly of each extraction machine onsite. Daily Tasks: (Not Exhaustive of all Tasks) • Receive and organize raw material. • Perform METRC duties in tandem with the Packaging Manager. • Organize raw material bins in a logical and systematic process. • Manage the blend selection of raw material . • Curate terpene blends for compatibility and consumer desirability. • Dictation to and review of SOPs with the CEO • Dissemination of SOPs and new extraction procedures to staff. • Manage troubleshooting of: o Equipment o Material flaws • Remediation of product and fixing product flaws. • Manage production and extraction of all white-labeled products for Raw Material Suppliers. • Social Media Updates - Supervise product shots and video footage of lab floor and products performed by staff and interns. • Ensure Advisory Test compliance of all raw materials before performing full lot extraction. • Manage Raw Mater ial Intake Calendar. • Manage Safety: o Maintain Safety SOPs Binder o Maintenance of machines -- keep a Maintenance Calendar o Scheduling of third-party providers to fix equipment. o Schedule engineers as needed. o Ensure that all staff are wear ing required protective equipment. o Ensure proper handling of all volatile substances: Dry ice • Liquid hydrocarbon gas • Compressed Argon • CO2 • Compressed Nitrogen • Ethanol • Isopropanol • Volatile Terpenes • Other chemicals • Disposal of post-extracted material. • Turn on chillers and perform daily machine startup procedures. • Flip all extractions, manage residual solvents removal. • Perform extractions and ensure schedule adherence. • Ensuring product diversity through proper material extraction scheduling. • Communicate with the Sales Department and understand their product needs. Collaboration • Keep the office area tidy to maintain a functional work environment. • Work with team members to develop, learn, and implement new systems. • Assist the company with all interdepartmental policies and activities. Technology and Other Requirements • Computer: Highly functional on a modern PC. Equipment will be provided. • Microsoft Office: Proficient in Word and Excel, 2010 or newer. • Goo gle Apps: Proficiency with G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive), and security and sharing knowledge. Ability to manage multiple Gmail accounts. • Adobe Acrobat: Print as PDF, troubleshoot document resolution issues. • Printing: Familiar with network printing, scanning and sending documents, driver installation, and troubleshooting. • Smartphone: Must be smartphone fluent. • Internet Research: Must be HIGHLY internet savvy. • Culture match: Support the mission and spirit of the organization and be comfortable with cannabis. • Relaxed demeanor and calm confidence. • Be patient, proactive, positive and a team player. • Self-starting with solid follow-t hrough and multi-tasldng capabilities. • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and challenging workload. • Must interact effectively with all levels of management and staff; internally and externally. • Knowledge of and proper use of extraction machinery and technology. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • 3 years of high-level Extraction and Cannabis Supply Chain Experience---knowledge and previous experience with cannabis extracts is required. • Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, engineering or technical certification in an associated field is highly desirable but not required. • Working knowledge of computer programs as described. • Must be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background check. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: • Current, valid driver's license; clean driving record; valid insurance; reliable vehicle. • State required agent card • Need to complete EPA certification - I, II & III within one month of hire. • Need to complete OSHA 30 certification within three months of hire BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION: Full-time, hourly- exempt salaried position. Compensation is 60k-75k per year. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work may require prolonged sitt ing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires _eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing. Requires close vision with the ability to see color and adjust focus. Lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly using smart lifting techniques . TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is high energy, fast paced, and, due to the nature of the curre nt regulatory landscape, is often highly stressful. Position requires regular availability to work Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm with a 30-minute paid meal break for shifts of 6 or more hours, occasional nights, weekends, holidays, and events.
