How You'll Help
VP of Software Development is responsible for the velocity of the development team, the quality of the products developed and meeting the expectations of both internal and external customers. As a member of the management team, the VP of Software Development plays a key role in ensuring the completion of key product roadmap deliverables and the timely resolution of support issues. An important responsibility is mentoring and supporting the growth of a team of talented engineers.

What You'll Do:

  • Structure and lead teams, individuals, and cross-functional relationships in a way that ensures productivity and transparent communication
  • Organize and mentor a global team of developers to align with the strategic objectives of the company
  • Champion overall development and operational excellence; establish and track key metrics and processes
  • Focus on software quality and delivering value to clients by collaborating with technical peers and software development managers
  • Lead the adoption of technical methodologies and best practices within the development team
  • Take charge of platform development, owning the development budget, management of current tools and systems
  • Partner with the Product team to execute the product roadmap, implement continuous improvement, deployment and testing as part of the product delivery lifecycle
  • Drive insights on how to leverage and integrate innovative technology
  • Work with cross-functional leaders and team leads to set aggressive but achievable timelines and targets for development deliverables without sacrificing quality
  • Articulate plans and projects to both senior-level executives and new team members; in addition to representing the team in a variety of scenarios: company meetings; executive meetings; strategic partnerships; and product direction discussions
  • Cultivate an effective partnership with the HR team to drive the recruitment, development, and performance of a world-class, globally distributed development team

You Will Be a Good Fit For This Role If You Have:

  • Senior development experience in a high-growth startup or medium-sized product-focused tech company
  • Hands-on experience architecting/developing multiple product lines with highly complex technical infrastructures, including SaaS product
  • Experience with organizational design and structure for development teams, demonstrating a track record of effectively aligning development practices with organizational strategy to deliver business results through utilizing agile development methodologies
  • Understanding of the core technology and development challenges, with the strategic vision to make important decisions
  • Possess knowledge of security practices and systems required to manage sensitive data
  • Current knowledge in relevant technologies and architectures, including Java-based MicroServices architectures, Python, async messaging, DB design, fault-tolerant software architectures, and others

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Location:
    HelioCampus has three locations, Bethesda, MD, Chapel Hill, NC, and Philadelphia, PA. This is a hybrid role.
