Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Pediatric Cardiologist, the Exercise Physiologist works with the Physician, Nutritionist, Medical Assistants to provide both cardiac and pulmonary exercise testing, including but not limited to stress electrocardiogram studies, exercise echocardiography studies and formal cardiopulmonary exercise testing. The candidate serves as an expert exercise consultant and creates personalized reports and detailed fitness data based on assessment and findings. Applies and interprets tools for clinical assessment in addition to treadmill, metabolic function , sphygmomanometry, ECGs, auscultation, telemetry, oximetry. Consults with primary care physician and care team to promote and integrate high quality, patient-centered care. Ability to attend to patients’ health and fitness needs. Ability to work with young children's and teens expressing a variety of emotions, and/or dealing with some physical pain. The Exercise Physiologist operates and maintains the medical devices and instruments to perform cardiopulmonary exercise stress tests as well as non-invasive cardiac monitoring during dynamic and pharmacologic stress testing. The Cardiopulmonary Exercise Physiologist will oversee the scheduling of patients needing cardio pulmonary exercise stress testing.

This position also works as a medical assistant/transcription assistant at our main and satellites clinics one day per week.  Medical assistant duties include; rooming patients, vitals, knowledge of EMR system and charting, high accuracy, on-the-spot action, attention to detail, excellent problem-solving ability, self-initiative, strong computer skills, leadership qualities, and ability to competently and efficiently work without instruction are a must

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology
  • At least one year experience working as a Exercise Physiologist within the last 3 years at an acute care facility
  • Current America Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification
  • EKG experience preferred
