Job Description

HMS is looking for a Clinical Quality Review Lead to develop processes and coordinate a team of reviewers conducting external clinical data quality review and chart abstraction of STS (Society of Thoracic Surgeons) registry data and other quality databases.

This is a temporary part-time casual position with very flexible hours. The position will last approximately 6 - 9 months with the possibility of a longer-term employment.

The Lead Clinical Quality Analyst (STS Registries) must have an in-depth understanding and knowledge of clinical requirements, medical records, and STS data collection practices. This position will be responsible for the following:

• Work with program director, data analyst, IT developers, and records manager to pro-actively participating in establishing business rules and requirements for conducting reviews

• Develop and deliver remote training presentation to participating sites

• Develop and deliver remote training for clinical quality review team

• Provide guidance and answer questions from review team

• Monitor team productivity and take action on productivity or quality issues that arise

In addition to oversight of the clinical review team, the Clinical Quality Lead will assist program leadership with product development and subject matter expertise with new programs and projects.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 5 years’ recent experience conducting clinical data abstraction and/or medical record review for clinical quality registries with 1-year specific with the STS Intermacs and/or Pedimacs Cardiac Data Registries

• Experience with cardiac device implant procedures, cardiac catheterization lab, or mechanical circulatory support devices (MCSDs)

• Registered Nurse required (Prefer RN/BSN)

• Minimum 5 years direct patient care and/or quality oversight and/or management preferred

• Current RN, NP, PA, LPN, RHIT, RHIA or other relevant certifications

• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platforms (Epic, Cerner, etc...) required

• Three years hands-on medical record experience with coding, auditing, review, clinical data abstracting

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Comfortable learning how to use new software quickly

• Strong team ethic; ability to work cooperatively within the team

• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and perform effectively under pressure
