EMR Support Specialist

Summary/Overview

Under the direction of the IT Director, the EMR Support Specialist performs tasks associated with the successful configuration, maintenance, support, reporting, and training of the Healing Partners' Electronic Medical Record systems. This position is responsible for direct support to clinical operations and patient care teams to facilitate the introduction, acceptance, integration, and optimal use of Healing Partners' EMR systems. This role will collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to properly implement employee access, setup, and successful use of our EMR systems to provide exceptional patient care.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Stellar customer service skills are required to perform this job well. Listening and observational skills are required while attempting always to go the extra mile to please the customer.
  • Responding to and resolving EMR Help Desk calls via telephone, e-mail, and walk-ins, creating tickets to document issues and resolutions thoroughly in the Help Desk tracking system software. Accurately communicating pertinent information while maintaining a positive attitude, even during high-stress situations.
  • Assists with documenting and amending all pertinent information in the patient's electronic medical record according to Healing Partners' policies and procedures. Upholds Healing Partners' policies and procedures, and applicable state, federal and local laws.
  • Research technical and interpersonal solutions to problems, using all information and resources available. Developing and maintaining checklists providing efficient and expedient access to solved technical issues. Publishing and maintaining detailed documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Acts as a liaison between Healing Partners' staff, EMR vendors, and our customers to provide support for all EMR functions.
  • Ensure any changes or incidents related to EMR systems are communicated to end users in a timely and understandable manner. Assists with administrative functions and helps coordinate special projects as assigned.
  • Setting up and maintaining EMR access for staff, such as assigning appropriate roles/facilities, resetting credentials, and unlocking accounts.
  • Assists with various tasks within the implementation workflow to onboard staff and facilities.
  • Triaging tickets on the help desk to ensure timely resolutions and responses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • At least 1-year experience in the Healthcare industry is preferred
  • At least 1-year experience directly supporting EMR systems is preferred
  • At least 2 years experience with customer service
  • 2-year college degree or comparable work experience
  • Proficient with technology and Microsoft Office
