Job Description

Position Summary:


Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer a board-certified Physician provides patients with high-quality treatment and diagnostic services. The Physician is an intuitive healthcare professional whose diagnostic abilities are only matched by their concern for their patients. The Physician is responsible for meeting, assessing and diagnosing patients in our clinic and providing them with healthcare services that meet state and national standards for care giving. They are responsible for prescribing patients with appropriate medication, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent future health issues and/or promote a healthier life. The Physician must have a passion for providing diagnostic services to patients and will enjoy working closely with other healthcare professionals in our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with primary healthcare team to provide patients with primary medical services within the national standards of care.
  • Order laboratory and radiology test and refer patients to specialists when appropriate and called for.
  • Analyze reports, test results, medical records and examination diagnose condition of patients and purpose treatment options.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications and treatment regimes to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
  • Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing medication/treatment.
  • Provide advice to patients for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help treat the health issue they are experiencing.
  • Assess patient’s condition, locate appropriate treatment resources, ensure continuity of care and document treatment progression; provide individual counseling sessions concerning health improvement and maintenance.
  • Perform supporting clinical disease management assessment of disease states and utilization, care plan documentation and facilitation, referral to appropriate levels of care, etc.
  • Function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, ensuring excellence in patient care, in an effort to achieve optimal clinical outcomes through seamless model of access and care.
  • Document interventions with medical record system/s to collaborate with health care providers and monitor treatment programs. Assess overall health and health education needs of patient.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infectious control standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
  • Record complete, timely and legible medical records within the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain strict adherence to state and federal practice guidelines.
  • Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the facility staff which allows for consultation, collaboration and/or referral.
  • Demonstrates cost consciousness and wise consumerism when prescribing, ordering tests and labs.
  • May refer patients to physicians for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
  • Assists with interviewing and selection of healthcare providers, as needed.
  • Assists with training and evaluation of healthcare providers, as needed.
  • Follows established guidelines for recording actual hours worked, including not limited to clocking in/out on the designated time clock at the beginning and end of each assigned shift.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures in regards to Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Demonstrate a visible working style and act in a manner that is consistent with and shows commitment to the Interra Health Values.
  • Execute other duties/projects, as assigned.


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience providing primary and diagnostic serves in a clinical setting.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Primary Care Physician role outside of their residency.
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited United States medical school.
  • Successful completion of residency at an accredited healthcare institution.
  • Board certification/eligibility in primary care or related field.
  • Current State Medical Practitioner License.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing.
  • American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification (or equivalent)
  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Active use of UpToDate to ensure adherence with current clinical guidelines.
  • Experience prescribing appropriate medications, treatments and health regimes to treat patient health issues.
  • Experience collaborating with Advance Practice Providers and performing statutory chart reviews.
  • Experience collaborating with specialist to explore patient health conditions and diagnose health issues.
  • Experience working win a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experience with our organization.

  • Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to: electronic medical record systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with advanced interpersonal communication skills. Possess knowledge of relevant ethical and legal aspects of providing healthcare to patients in a clinic setting.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to effectively interact with persons from a variety of backgrounds and experiences in a professional, diplomatic, and courteous manner.
  • Highly organized and proficient individual that can work quickly and with little direction.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
