Payroll Specialist (up to $50,000)

Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing timely and accurate payroll processing and compliance to positively impact our client’s business and internal employees. This role troubleshoots situations, educates employees and works closely with the leadership team to reach and exceed company goals.

Essential Functions

Under supervision with moderate decision making:

  • Accurate and timely processing of payroll in a medium volume environment
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and completeness
  • Input and balance payroll data accurately to ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Processes payroll and review payroll reports for accuracy before distribution to management
  • Recommend payroll solutions to streamline or enhance payroll functions
  • Provide exceptional internal customer service
  • Meet deadlines and keep management informed of status
  • Interface with department managers and support initiatives to improve employee retention
  • Participate in department meetings
  • Escalate any complex issues and follow through to resolution
  • Act as a back-up for other functions as assigned

 

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Minimum of one to two years of experience in payroll processing

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong proficiency and experience in payroll processing
  • Customer service skills in a team environment
  • Able to effectively interact with multiple internal departments
  • Strong time management, organizational and facilitation skills
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Effective verbal and in written communication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn other programs as needed
  • Principles, practices and procedures of general business
  • Experience with payroll services such as ADP or Paychex
