Specializing in estate grown wines from our 45-acre property, we cater to our local community and offer tasting rooms with extended hours and breathtaking views. Summary:
The Tasting Room Host/Hostess will welcome and direct guests to our two tasting rooms in a quick and efficient manner while providing exceptional service.
You will be a great fit for this position if you have a friendly, outgoing and hospitable personality and enjoy meeting and greeting folks throughout the day, in a very busy and fast paced environment. The Host / Hostess is a support role to a sales position, therefore must have a service and sales mindset.
Schedule: Wednesday – Sunday
Hours: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Compensation: $16.50 + Tips + Commission

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Key Holder Role: Close winery twice a week by turning off lights and setting alarm for winery.
- Eagerly welcome both wine club members and guests to the winery with a warm, hospitable smile.
- Check all visitors in and verify reservations and club membership.
- Assist and direct guests to their assigned table area and Servers.
- Maintain professional etiquette as set by the Hawks View Winery values and standards.
- Assist guests and members in making reservations or directing them to the appropriate outlet/manager for Wine Club or Tasting Room requests.
- Answer Host/Hostess Desk phone in a timely and professional manner as set by the Hawks View Winery values and standards.
- Reply cordially and in a timely manner to Reservation emails.
- Utilize point-of-sale system for in-person wine and merchandise sales.
- Work well under pressure when the winery is busy and handle multiple guests at a time.
- Complete all customer requests and assigned tasks efficiently.
- Know the daily calendar of events at the Winery, and confidently assist and direct guests arriving for various activities on property.
- Know the policies, procedures and promotions at the Winery and be able to articulate them to guests in a confidant yet friendly manner.
- Coordinate and communicate information to Tasting Room and Wine Club Managers regarding anything needed to ensure the guest’s satisfaction is exceeded.
- Assist servers with food running and beverage service during every shift.
- Perform any other tasks as requested by the Tasting Room Manager or Tasting Room Lead including light cleaning, stocking, etc. in support of the tasting room experience.
- Engage all guests to ensure they are happy with their visit, thank and invite them to return.
- Handle and resolve any customer discrepancies or issues that may arise in a calm manner.
- Promote and sell our Wine Club membership benefits to potential candidates.
- Understand and adhere to current environmental and safety practices set by the winery.
- Balance the cash drawers and dropping the cash at the end of the night.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be 21 and over.
- Must have mostly open availability Wednesday – Sunday and be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to work special events (i.e., barrel tastings, wine club pick up parties, etc.)
- Positive attitude, good conversational skills, and overall happy demeanor.
- Able to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Able to stand for long periods of time and lift/move 40+ lbs.
- Fluent in English.
- Able to engage guests in a clear and professional manner.
- Be willing and able to work well under pressure and in a high paced work environment.
- Ability to multitask while staying organized.
- Experience with wine, retail, and/or hospitality desirable but not essential.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
