Title: Associate Networks & Systems Administrator
Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Systems and Networks, the Associate Networks & Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of computer and network systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
The Associate Networks & Systems Administrator assists in the management and maintenance of the college's Information Technology infrastructure. This position requires knowledge of server operating systems, user management, network architecture and cyber security best practices. Responsibilities include installation, administration, upgrading, maintenance, and testing of network hardware and software systems. The Associate Networks & Systems Administrator performs routine user and group management and assists with the day-to-day operation of the VoIP phone system. The Associate Networks & Systems Administrator helps to research, test, and make recommendations with regard to new technology and regulations and will also assist with the deployment and implementation of network and systems projects. The Associate Networks & Systems Administrator must possess a strong sense of ethics and integrity as this position requires the ability to work with and protect confidential and personal information.
Responsibilities
Qualifications: Minimum requirements for this position include a B.A/B.S degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related field. CompTIA A+, Network+ and Server+ Certification a plus.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, configuration, installation, and maintenance of LANs, WLANs, and WANs and the infrastructure that supports their operation.
- Routine maintenance of user account databases, including the assigning and revoking of permissions.
- Monitoring of logs and alert systems to identify potential problems, help to solve identified problems, and to escalate as appropriate.
- Assist in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of VoIP phone system.
- Work with the Director of Networks and Servers to monitor and address security risks and vulnerabilities using SIEM technology.
- Work individually and as part of a team with other IT staff and with vendors & contractors.
- Document procedures and configurations for use by other members of the IT team.
- Be available to work occasional weekend or evening hours as required.
- Communicate effectively with fellow staff members and end-users.
- As a representative of the College, must comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus.
- Comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational regulations.
- Participate in significant campus activities including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend.
- Other duties as assigned.

- College degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of switch and routing principles, best practices, and industry standards
- Understanding of VoIP systems and component technologies.
- Knowledge of Server Operating Systems and User Management best practices.
- Knowledge of Cyber Security best practices.
- Ability to learn rapidly, follow directions and communicate effectively with others
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
- Will occasionally need to list and/or move 40 pounds
Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud computing platforms
- Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory
- COMPTIA Security+ certification or similar
