The Institute of Living, one of the first mental health centers in the U.S., remains one of America’s leading not-for-profit centers for patient care, research and education in the fields of behavioral, psychiatric and addiction disorder. Through our dedicated, experienced and skilled clinicians, we provide patients and their families with the highest quality of personalized care. Programs are offered for children, adolescents and adults struggling with mental illness as well as offering services specializing in Anxiety, Eating Disorders, and Geriatric Services.
The Division of Neuropsychology enjoys active involvement in the hospital’s rich history of training and provision of excellent care. All faculty members participate in the training and development of externs, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows through involvement in the Institute of Living’s APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship and supervision of fellows in our APPCN-accredited fellowship. As such, the ideal candidate will have a keen interest and desire to participate in teaching activities and supervision of students at all levels of training.
The Psychology Department and Division of Neuropsychology are housed in The Institute of Living’s Department of Psychiatry, which has been named by U.S. News & World Report as among the nation's top psychiatric facilities. Located in Hartford, CT, we are within driving distance from several large metropolitan regions, including Boston and New York City. The Institute of Living also meets requirements for the NHSC Loan Repayment Program due to the program’s location in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).
Functioning within the framework for professional nursing practice, the Patient Unit Manager supports and assists the Director. This position has 24 hour accountability for managing resources (human, material and financial), to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of patient services for specific patient populations, in a defined area across the continuum. This is accomplished by direct action, delegation, coaching and support of unit-based shared governance councils. Reports to Director of Service.
