Job Description Store Manager Overview The position of Store Manager for Hart & Huntington Tattoo Co. is one that holds vast duties and great responsibilities. This individual oversees the daily operations of the store while managing employees and Independent Contractors (Tattoo Artists) to ensure that customers have a pleasant experience while maximizing profitability for the store. The Store Manager must act as a strong, morale pillar of support for his/her team and must represent themselves as a respectable leader who is well versed in every aspect of the stores operations. Each responsibility that this individual will handle is vital to the smooth operation of the store. This person must execute their responsibilities with professionalism and must know when it is the right time for serious behavior and when he/she can take a lighter attitude with both the customers and employees. The first main duty of a Store Manager is the hiring, firing and maintaining of personnel. These individuals are ones who make the store a success and it takes a strong manager to ensure that the perfect individuals are hired to fill positions such as Sales Associates, Key Holders, Assistant Managers and Tattoo Artists. In addition to these tasks, the Store Manager must see to it that each individual is adequately trained to fill their job title and to extract the best work out of them throughout their employment at the Store. Another important duty and/or responsibility of the Store Manager, deals with the money that comes into the store and goes back out as well. The Store Manager is ultimately responsible for handling the turning in of cash at the end of each day and is required to ensure that all the money is accounted for prior to being deposited. In addition, a Store Manager is responsible for turning in payroll for employees and Tattoo Artists and ensuring that paychecks accurately match the hours worked by each individual as well as making sure Tattoo Artists are getting paid for only the work that they have completed. Meticulous records are needed to be kept by the Store Manager to ensure that all money, which has come into the store, is accounted for and store Employees and Tattoo Artists are paid as they should be. One very important duty of the Store Manager relates to customer service responsibilities. From time to time, customers will ask to speak with a manager whether it be to issue a complaint regarding their experience or provide a compliment to an Employee, Tattoo Artist, or the store itself. The Store Manager is the higher up individual in the retail ranks who provides an ear to customers who wish to express either their pleasure or displeasure regarding an aspect of the business. Therefore the Store Manager must be extremely well versed in matters of customer service. The Store Manager is also the pertinent individual at the shop who confers with the higher up individuals on the corporate or ownership level. Since the Store Manager is on the premises on a daily basis, they are the best individuals to let the corporate/ownership know how that particular store is doing. This relates not only to sales but to employer-employee relations as well. This individual is also the one who handles occupational safety and employee relations within the store and relates any issues back to the head of office. The Store Manager is responsible for maintaining the overall image of the store. It is their duty to sensibly display merchandise so that it immediately catches the attention of customers. The Store Manager must monitor and ensure that each Tattoo Artist is creating quality tattoo art for our customers, providing excellent customer service and is practicing health & safety procedures according to H&H’s high standards. The Store Manager must ensure that the store lives up to its predefined brand image by meeting or exceeding the expectations of H&H corporate, ownership and the customers. Lastly, the Store Manager must have exceptional conversational skills. Since a main component of a Store Manager’s daily duties is to interact with customers and employees, it is very important that they know how to converse in such a manner which is professional, courteous, honest and effective. Essential Functions: · Manage and direct overall operations · Work a minimum of 42-50 hours per week, including weekends & Holidays · Leading with professionalism, honesty, integrity and respect · Managing employee structures such as interviewing potential staff, hiring, firing, conducting appraisals and performance reviews, as well as providing or organizing training and development · Must be well versed in all aspects of the business including Sales Associate, Key Holder and Assistant Manager duties · Establish balance and structure between artists and sales team · Managing and motivating a team to increase sales and ensure efficiency · Writing the Employee and Tattoo Artist schedule timely · Ensuring that tattoo stations are staffed during optimal operating hours · Monitor tattoo appointment schedule entries and audit procedures to ensure smooth operations with minimal errors · Coordinate the flow of goods from the stock room to the sales floor, and do merchandise replenishment · Maintain inventory and supply levels · Oversee and ensure compliance of all staff with established company policies, procedures, operating licenses and health licenses · Ensure compliance for sanitary tattoo practices and age requirements · Demonstrate teamwork by assisting and cooperating with co-workers as needed · Selling as required · Delegate responsibly · Coordinate team building initiatives and set up incentives to drive results · Oversee the selling technique, grammar and proper etiquette of electronic generated revenue interactions to maximize professionalism, consistency and effectiveness · Organizing and leading productive meetings – Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly · Regularly audit sales receipts and Z-Outs for mistakes or shrink issues · Analyzing sales figures and forecasting future sales · Analyzing and interpreting trends to facilitate planning · Resolving health, safety, legal and security issues · Resolve internal and external conflicts and make hard decisions for employees · Must be available at all times to resolve problems and to handle customer service complaints and comments · Participate in developing policies and procedures · Set goals, communicate goals, measure the success and adjust · Organizing special promotions, displays and events · Represent business in areas of public relations like conventions, trade shows, events, etc. · Promoting the organization locally by partnering with businesses, schools, media and the community in general · Maintain employee and customer records with confidentiality · Go to the bank to make change and drop deposits · Updating colleagues on business performance, new initiatives and other pertinent issues · Touring the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and customers, and identifying or resolving urgent issues · Maintaining awareness of market trends in the tattoo and retail industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives and monitoring what local competitors are doing · Initiating changes to improve the business; revising operating hours to ensure the store is maximizing revenue opportunities · Maintain customer experience through team member interaction and store presentation · Ensure high customer and client satisfaction · Ensuring standards for quality tattoos, customer service, safety and store image · Oversee an effective campaign for content posts across all social media platforms · Promote H&H’s mission and values and solicit customer feedback * These responsibilities may be amended from time to time Qualifications Education/Experience: 3-5 years experience in retail store management Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with confidence to both internal and external customers. Possess strong written communication skills. Mathematic Skills: Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios. Must be able to make change in American monetary units. Reasoning Ability: Ability to multi-task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business. Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision. Physical Demands: This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least 3 consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 30 lbs. Other Skills: Must be an excellent organizer and problem solver with strong project management skills.
