Medical Imaging Student Technologist

Performs quality radiographic procedures including, but not limited to skull, facial bones, chest, cervical, thoracic, lumbar spine, pelvis, abdomen, upper and lower extremities, GI tract and urinary tract. Checks prior tests to see if a patient is properly prepared and instructed; positions and immobilizes patients. Provides radiation protection to patients and personnel. Documents all appropriate paperwork relative to examination, ensures images are appropriate in PACS. Monitors digital display of area being scanned and adjust density or contrast to improve image quality. Understands and manages the image management system. Accurately performs data entry into the hospital and department computer systems, including the area specific data acquisition devices. Assists with inventory control and proactively informs necessary personnel when equipment is not working properly. Performs downtime procedures when computer systems or equipment fails. Monitors patients’ conditions and reactions, reporting abnormal signs to appropriate personnel and/or radiologist. Sets up examination rooms, ensuring that all necessary equipment is ready. Assist Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital Medical Imaging Team to deliver the highest level of operation and clinical standards. Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of HHS on a daily basis. Provides back-up support to co-workers as appropriate.
Attending an accredited school or training program for Radiologic Technologists, 2nd year student.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements
No previous experience required. Given training and on-the-job experience. Incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within 3 months. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups. Knowledge of standard medical imaging procedures and the physical and biological effects of ionizing radiation. Great knowledge of anatomy and physiology, asepsis, sterile techniques and radiological positioning. Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Applies principles of collaboration and teamwork to job responsibilities. Ability to acquire, format, manipulate, archive and print images on the area specific digital acquisition devices. conclusions or approaches to problems. Demonstrates patient support activities such as patient flow, preparation, clean up and turn around of examination. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/application/software. Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to use discretion with confidential data. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public. This position requires supervision from a registered radiologic technologist and/or Radiologist.
