Job Description
We are a PreK-12th grade public charter school. Our mission is to prepare each and every student for college and career by providing a safe, caring and collaborative atmosphere and a quality student-centered educational program with a strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.. We are seeking a new Special Education Teacher - Elementary- Life Skills to join our team. Your role will be to provide instruction to students of low incidence population with significant cognitive disabilities to develop domestic, vocational, and recreational/leisure, community and self-determination skills. You will provide students receiving special education services with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.. As a member of the special education department, you will work with your special education colleagues and report to our special education coordinator. What You Will Do: Teach special education life skills classes Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning Modes and instill a love of learning Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds in order to meet the individual needs of students Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction Use data to determine student's strengths and weaknesses, develop, and monitor student's IEPs Prepare ARD paperwork and attend ARD meetings for assigned students What You Will Bring: Our ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of relevant experience and the following credentials/skills: Bachelor's Degree Special Education Texas Certification EC-6 Generalist Texas Certification Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Knowledge of special education laws and regulations Why You'll Love Us: Harmony Public Schools believes each student can achieve their own unique, full potential through a caring and collaborative learning environment that emphasizes personalized learning and innovative instructional methods.
