JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Ranch Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Ranch Manager
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Ranch Team

OBJECTIVE: People and management skills of this position are as important as the need to understand and embrace work effectively not only as a team leader, but also as a team player and able to motivate staff. Under the supervision of the Ranch Manager, the Ranch Supervisor supervises and assists with all ranch related projects at Harlan Estate and Promontory. The main areas of responsibility are the forest, woodlands and riparian areas outside of the vineyard envelope as well as all above ground and underground infrastructure that supports the vineyards, production facilities and residences. Will also support Vineyard, Facilities and Landscaping teams as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for the completion of specific tasks and to ensure quality standards are met
• Provide input for performance tracking and disciplinary actions for ranch personnel
• Assist ranch team with the maintenance/cleaning of all ranch equipment
• Support ranch manager in daily project management, including determining contractors’ scope of services and work schedules
• Assist ranch manager in performing property inspections
• Assist in preparing monthly reports
• Assist in creating quarterly performance reports
• Collaborate with ranch manager to recruit new employees when necessary
• Perform duties normally associated with ranch manager in order to complete necessary tasks
• Schedules, supervises and coordinates the work of the labor force
• Regularly inspects the progress and quality of service/repair work
• Reports errors, violations, incidents or problems immediately
• Maintain file system for management office
• Identify training and development needs of direct reports
• Schedule overtime as authorized. Review and recommend approval of timecard.
• Assist in the coordination of vacation/time off schedules
• Ensure that equipment is maintained in good working condition and stored in a properly manner
• Oversees inventory of tools, safety gear and materials
• Pickup/deliver materials
• Install and repair infrastructure
• Fire mitigation work
• Tree cutting, pruning and thinning
• Use of heavy equipment
• Maintenance and building of hiking trails
• Facilitate the repair and installation of fences and gates
• Organize the hauling of grapes during harvest
• Landscape maintenance assistance as needed
• Perform all other related duties as assigned

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
All employees must follow all Company safety rules.
• Ensure that all ranch employees are educated on and are following proper safety procedures
• Coordinate safety training of personnel to ensure training is properly accomplished and documented
• Any injury and/or accident, regardless of severity, must be reported immediately to the appropriate manager or supervisor or to Human Resources.
• If injured, and when requested by Domain Services, LLC, the injured worker must visit the Company’s designated occupational health provider for a medical evaluation to determine fitness for duty
• Where required, and without exception, employees must wear/use mandated PPE
• Machine guards must not be removed, and the supervisor notified when guards have been damaged or rendered ineffective
• Machines without adequate guards or guards in questionable condition must not be used and reported to supervisor
• Hazardous conditions and other safety concerns must be reported immediately to the appropriate manager or supervisor
• Failure to follow the rules may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagraph form
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from manager or employees
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• At least 5 year’s experience in leadership or supervision
• Must be highly organized with attention to detail
• Ability to function effectively under pressure in environments of rapid change and conflicting demands
• Knowledge of safe and effective in use and maintenance of mid-sized equipment (chainsaws, weed whackers etc.) and heavy equipment (loaders, excavators etc.)
• Detail oriented approach to work with strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Word & Outlook
• Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
• People management and strong leadership capabilities
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours when needed, including weekends and evenings, and come in for emergency situations
• Must possess a valid drivers license
• Proactive, honest and trustworthy
• Team player with a positive attitude
• Self-motivated, willingness to learn and teach
• Problem solving
• Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk on uneven, sloped terrain, bend, lift, twist for extended periods
• Grasp, kneel, crouch, crawl, pull, push, carry, reach and stoop as needed, sometimes for extended periods
• Ability to accurately distinguish colors
• Ability to work in the rain if conditions allow


WORKPLACE CONDITIONS:
• Seasonally wet and cold outdoors conditions
• Seasonally sunny and hot Napa Valley conditions
• Moderate climate
• Uneven terrain and hillsides

LOCATION & COMMITMENTS:
• Full time Monday-Friday (40 hours per week) at our Oakville property
• Overtime and weekend work may be required (especially during Harvest season)
