Job Description

Would you describe yourself as someone who pays attention to details? Do you have a mechanical aptitude and great time-management skills? 

We are looking for a candidate that has intermediate computer skills and familiarity with 2D and 3D CAM, AutoCAD and spreadsheets. Additionally the ability to read and understand blueprints, have good math skills and being conscientious of accuracy is required. This candidate will work side-by-side with our Manufacturing Engineer. The Mold Designer Trainee will learn to develop specific skills to design, manufacture and test graphite molds.

Responsibilities:

·         Design graphite molds that fulfill the product’s requirements.

·         Verify the accuracy of new mold designs by performing functional weld tests .

·         Once design approval has been received, create or modify mold part drawings that reflect the finished product.

·         Set up and operate HAAS vertical machine center.

·         Understand and be able to maintain HAAS Vertical Machining Center::

  • Tool Length Offsets
  • Vise Jaw Alignment with Machine Axes
  • Work Coordinate System Offsets
  • Utilizing the Haas Wireless Intuitive Probing System (WIPS)

·         Create and maintain mold product bills, routes and operating instructions for manufacturing use

·         Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         High School diploma or equivalent required, some post-secondary or manufacturing technical education is preferred.

·         Have good math skills, specifically arithmetic.

·         Intermediate computer skills and basic familiarity with the following application software types:

  •  2D & 3D CAM
  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Spreadsheets

·         Have good time management skills.

·         Be able to read, understand, and create blueprints/drawings.

·         Have mechanical aptitude.

·         Be able to communicate effective

·         Have knowledge of various types of equipment such as:

  • Hand, power, and air tools
  • Rulers, tape measures, gages, calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators
