We have long standing relationships with some of the largest gaming companies in the industry and are a certified developer across all major platforms.

Overview

Hardsuit Labs is looking for a Design Director to lead the design team to the heights of brilliance . What You Will Be Doing
  • Build and maintain design department vision to further support HSL beliefs and business goals
  • Generate buy-in and drive long-term design department vision, initiatives, and execution
  • Manage the design department and conduct regular reviews of the design team to ensure accountability, career growth, and opportunities.
  • Own design recruitment and terminations, and develop and administer individual performance improvement plans
  • Mentor, coach, guide, and train design leads and designers to maximize their potential and capability
  • Be the final decision maker on design and creative issues within the company and on projects
  • Oversee design direction of projects and ensure project design goals and execution aligns with and support HSL goals and vision
  • Collaborate with other directors to ensure correct implementation of all aspects of projects, department, and company challenges and opportunities
  • Communicate company messaging to department and design leads to generate buy-in and facilitate execution
  • Foster a strong and defining culture for design in alignment with company values and goals
  • Work closely with operations, HR, and Finance to support competitive staffing and career growth, and to ensure equity within the department
  • Strategize, plan, and execute for the future
  • Develop and foster partner relationships and coordinate with external stakeholders to ensure product, and studio success
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, innovations, market dynamics, market dynamics and business opportunities, to future proof the design department and generate new opportunities in alignment with HSL vision and business

What You Will Bring
  • 10+ years of game development experience with multiple shipped titles in the role of a developer or lead
  • Strong, holistic design sense and instincts across both systems, content, and user experience
  • Good business acumen and understanding of the business of games and activity in the industry
  • Experienced people manager, leading by example while invested in helping those around them achieve their best through active listening and employing excellent soft skills
  • Strategic thinker and executer with a growth and adaptable mindset
  • Champion and executer of building and fostering great culture
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator
  • Strong problem solver, able to tackle both macro and micro issues, and clear a path forward
  • Established record of accomplishment in successful execution
  • Experience in building and fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, equity, collaboration, resiliency, and perseverance
  • Agility to move quickly between multiple and varied areas of focus in a given workday, and still able to dig into details as necessary

Nice to Haves
  • Deep understanding of player psychology and motivations
  • Deep familiarity with the Unreal Engine
  • Multiple shipped console games
  • Co-development experience
  • Business operations experience
