Title: VP/ Banking Operations Officer

Department: Operations

Reports to: SVP/IT & Operations Officer

Status: Exempt

  1. Summary:

With guidance from the SVP/Operations Officer, the VP/Banking Operations Officer is responsible for the management of the Operations team. This position will drive strategic initiatives and internal improvements; including monitoring of systems, developing, and implementing enhancements that improve the overall efficiency of the operation, and reinforcing the application of superior customer service through his or her own example.

  1. Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
  2. Supervises the daily workflow of the Operations Department which includes statement rendering, large dollar verifications, bank-by-mail, wires, ACH, return items, return deposited items, cash settlement, ATM settlement, cash order, and IRA processing.
  3. Performs reviews and research on dormant accounts
  4. Performs research in response to subpoenas and customer requests.
  5. Responsible for processing of return mail and the skip tracing function, maintaining, documenting, and properly storing deposit records using the current record retention.
  6. Strong knowledge of key operational systems that have a direct/indirect impact on Banking Operations.
  7. The ability to comprehend and understand the workflow and systems related to Deposit and Loan Operations. In addition, the ability to evaluate, monitor and enhance operating procedures to increase operational efficiency.
  8. Analyze the operational environment to improve processes, recommend enhancements to existing/new process workflows to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of the customer experience.
  9. Participate in product development as it applies the operational environment as well as assisting other departments with product integration and support as it pertains to the operational environment.
  10. Oversees product development and implementation for department as well as system updates and maintenance.
  11. Coordinates the gathering of requested documentation for Federal and State examiners and outside independent auditors in their regular examinations of the Bank
  12. Participate as a member IT Committee, along with any other applicable committees within the organization.
  13. Implements strategy, assess and monitors employee performance, motivates and manages a team to meet/exceed department and organization goals.
  14. Performs personnel actions including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment; supervises the daily activities of the department including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing necessary training.

Skills Required:

  1. Knowledge of the Funds and Files Transfer Services and Operating Rules.
  2. Strong working knowledge of various bank regulations.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Strong computer skills a must.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.
  6. Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  7. Reliability, flexibility, professional etiquette and sound judgment are important. Team player with proven ability to work cooperatively but also assume administrative responsibilities.


  1. 3-5 years Deposit Operations experience required with an emphasis on electronic-based financial services preferred.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree preferred
