Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Provide professional, courteous, and efficient service to our National Accounts customers' inquiries related to all products sold by the Company. Work together with other members of the Customer Service & Sales Departments to provide consistent performance above and beyond the expectations of our customers and co-workers. Sell and promote company products and services by calling on prospective and established National Accounts and end users. Maintain sales programs by keeping customers informed about existing and new products.

GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with all National Accounts to provide consistency and best service level.
  • Make sales calls to current and potential National Accounts and End users to develop a strong working relationship.
  • Learn and understand Field Sales Responsibilities with National Accounts and support them in the field.
  • Use in-person and on-line Presentation skills to communicate product features and benefits, company support, and new product additions.
  • Attend National Account trade shows, counter days, and vendor meetings
  • Contact customers and/or Field Sales as needed to obtain information to complete orders or resolve problems.
  • Learn and understand the National Account Customer Service responsibilities of established procedures and order entry.
  • Handle incoming calls to the National Account department. Respond to requests through verbal or written communications in an efficient and timely fashion.
  • Provide follow-up as required on orders. Communicate order changes or cancellations as requested. Investigate and report on ship date, carrier, tracking numbers, etc.
  • Learn and understand the National Account Shipping and Return procedure.
  • Complete National Account price increase procedures.
  • Complete National Account rebate approval procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for New Product additions to National Accounts and work with customer service to complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Review National Account marketing tools for accuracy and improvement and coordinate solutions with Marketing Department.
  • Learn and understand current National Account contracts and communicate with Legal for necessary changes.
  • Learn and understand National Account Scorecards and coordinate with customer service and operations for improvement opportunities.
  • Track our costs as compared to National Account purchase prices to identify needs for price increases.
  • Track National Account selling prices vs. Traditional Distribution and communicate necessary changes.
  • Upgrade product and procedure knowledge on a continuing basis to properly perform job duties. Complete all training sessions assigned and review and learn new information distributed.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by National Accounts Manager.
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills sufficient to perform as an active team member.
  • Support the company directives and programs.
  • Coordinate demo van efforts for all National Accounts.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

College diploma or acceptable equivalent.

Successful completion of company training on products and procedures is required.

Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication, keying, calculator, organization, accuracy, problem solving.

Computer knowledge to include Powerpoint, Outlook, Excel, Word

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to key for 7+ hours a day, ability to sit for 7+ hours a day, ability to stand for long periods of time.

Other Requirements

  • Ability land or air travel 25% to 50% of the time.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to handle job related stress.
  • Ability to learn, understand and explain our technical products.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Clear speech.
  • Excellent hearing.
  • Interact with others in a focused, positive, courteous, respectful, and professional business-like manner.
  • Regular attendance is an essential element of the job. Unplanned absences have the potential to impair the operation of the department and diminish effectiveness of the company.
  • This position does not require an aggressive approach to sales. Although some proactive moves are required to provide excellent service, this position is primarily reactive to the needs and wants of our customers.
